This video was captured using the actual game on an actual Nintendo Wii and the Japanese ROM on the amazing Supermodel emulator version 460 64bit. Resolution in Supermodel was set to standard definition (640X480) to closely match the original arcade's resolution.

I never initially planned on firing up the Supermodel emulator to play L.A. Machineguns because I thought I already had the definitive version on the Wii. I ended up loading L.A. Machineguns into Supermodel in order to troubleshoot some sound issues that I was having while running Daytona USA 2. After I was done being a nerd I decided to just give the game a go on the emulator just to see what it was like.

Immediately I picked up on the balance of sound in Supermodel vs. the Wii version. Supermodel has that hard hitting gun sound that was coupled so well with the recoil from the actual gun in the arcade cabinet. I had originally thought that the WIi version didn't feel as good simply because it didn't have the strong recoil gun of the arcade. I also noticed that other sound like bullets ricocheting are too loud which further drowns out the gun sound. After noticing the sound difference I also noticed how bright and vivid the colors are on Supermodel compared to the Wii. The first thing you should notice in this video is the ultra low contrast and super dull and dark colors of the WIi version compared to Supermodel. My capture device isn't the best, but this game really does look dark and dull on the Wii. Upon further examination during gameplay I also picked up on the fact that there many explosion and particle effects that are absent in the Wii version. Additionally the bullets that fire from your aiming reticle are much smaller and almost 2D in their appearance while they are large and appear as 3D projectiles.

The sound in Supermodel sounds clearer and cleaner, but I'm afraid my capture device made the Wii sound a bit worse than it actually does by making it sound a little muffled. I kept the sound comparison in so you could hear the balance of sound between the two, not so much the sound quality. Overall is the Wii version bad? Not one bit. I've played both versions quite extensively before making this video and have to say that this game is amazing no matter which version you play.

I've had this game for a while. I haven't played it yet though, because I just got my Wii U a couple of months ago.
