Remembering the days of the 'small guns' LOL. Was reading trough a old issues of EDGE mag and loved their little feature on the G.Rev, Milestone, Triangle Service. So got the ganes. Still amazed at how good Under Defeat still looks and just love the music to Chaosfield So sad most of them are no more (ok Milestone asked for it) and even G.Rev looks on their last legs :(

Nice.

Last I heard of G-Rev they were involved in Dariusburst CS somehow. I believe Triangle Service just released a port of Arcade Love + Pengo to Switch, and although Milestone itself may no longer exist, the IP does in the form of Radirgy Swag, again for Switch. Haven't tried it yet, I'll be waiting for the physical release later this year from Dispatch Games I think.

Not a fan of Chaos Field but I like the rest of their shooter output, with Radirgy and Radirgy Noa being the highlights IMO, great games.

Yeah, but like with Treasure, they seem all but dead these days and for me Darius CS looked cheap and nasty; Not the cutting edge Darius games I was used too
It's so sad to see, that even in Japan most don't care for the traditional shooter anymore be that in the Arcades or Home bar one or two titles, where it's mostly ports of all games.
Really been enjoying playing through the old DC shooters.

Still amazed at how good Giga Wing and Under Defeat look and being to wish I never sold my Mars Matrix now :(

I passed up Mars Matrix for a copy of Psyvariar 2 which is one of favorites for the system. Perhaps the only Korean-developed game I own, I think?

I know the Saturn owns the title for being a shmup strong-hold, but really the Dreamcast is a haven for the vertical scene - astounding all the games it received in its twilight...

Looking back, I'm still convinced the Dreamcast was the console to own for its generation.

The PS2 has a shooter library that rivals the Dreamcast easily I would say - just a quick list of games that didn't appear on DC as well as a refresher:

DoDonpachi Daioujou
Espgaluda II
Gradius V
R-Type Final
Raiden III
Ibara
Mushihimesama
Homura
Psyvariar
Dragon Blaze

Although it has to be said most of the multi-format shmups were inevitably superior on DC due to their Naomi origins.

That's Shikigami no Shiro II though, not Psyvariar 2.

@ Lync: I'm fairly sure the Japanese company Success developed the Psyvariar games, Skonek are Korean though and are known for the feudal shooting game Homura for Taito Type X and PS2, IIRC.
