Noticed this work in progress the other day. I love homebrew projects like this. While not my favorite in the series, this conversation looks amazing. I hope that the project is able too complete.

My first thought was "oh cool!", and then I watched the video and remembered how much ass this game sucks.

Still, I find myself really wanting to play the finished version of this. I haven't played this game in forever, but it was always interesting to see how, despite how stiff and clunky the control was, pretty much all of the elements that make up what would become the archetype for the entire genre were there (minus playability).

My hat's off to the developers at any rate. It looks very nice so far.

I forgot to post here LOL

I ever wanted to see an version of the 1987 Street Fighter Arcade converted for the Mega Drive/Genesis with better controls and now with the Genesis Fighting Engine developed by Mauro Flores, is finally possible!

It's a very preliminary footage so don't expect accurate animations, expectacular music arranges (i did a really quick Ym2151 to Ym2612 conversion here so...)

Mauro Flores is the Main Programmer and the Animator and i'm doing all the Art, SFX and Music conversions.

The Fighting Engine and the SF1 Port is evolving daily so stay tuned that i will post screenshots and videos here!

This Fighting Engine is powered by SECOND BASIC.

I love how you guys changed the lifebars from being like the original (on top of each other) to being more like the later fighting games.
Next up a character select screen with head icons like SF2?

A straight port isn't worth the effort, but this is both a great way to salvage the original game and make it solid, as well as a nice addition to the Mega Drive library.

We will probably let an option to have lifebars like the original and another to look like SF2.

I planned to make the character screen based on SF2 with head icons. I did a quick mockup (respecting color palettes limit) and will look probably like this:

Yep, we only will be accurate with Graphics and SFX. Controls and the Music arranges we will make our way... I hope way better LOL

Looks amazing, a huge upgrade over original, looks more cooler than the sf2 select char screen

This stands to become the superior version of the game over all other ports (few though they may be), and even the original, at that.

Man, a character select screen like that would add so much to the experience. The original game's gameplay may be its fatal flaw, but the foundation is there for a solid fighter and the assets are worthy of an overhaul like this I'd particularly love to hear the music performed by Mega Drive sound.

Are the bonus stages going to be included? I understand why the brick chopping one might not, at least not in the same style.

I will improve Ken gfx from the brick bonus to look more like Ken than a simple palette swap like the Arcade.

The enemies/bosses will be playable in the VS, Training and other new modes.

Arcade Mode: You can play with any character and the ending gonna be a generic congratulations screen using the character portrait.

I think in this way you gonna make everyone happy

There's no real "ending" anyway, no matter if you finish the game as Ryu or Ken you get the same generic "you have no time to rest on your glory" text anyway.
so personally I'd try to stay away from the AOF1 style, even back then it felt dated.

A more-doable thing might be ending cinema scenes that lead toward the character's (or their descendants') next appearance in the SF timeline. Maybe have Geki training with a young Ibuki, Birdie working out and getting a tan (hah)...

This looks very promising; worth a revisit down nostalgia lane once it's completed! I also agree with another thread comment elsewhere--perhaps call it "Mega Street Fighter"?
