I know of:

Shadow Dancer
Streets of Rage
Buster Douglas Knock-Out Boxing
Pat Riley Basketball
Golden Axe
Super Monaco GP
Arnold Palmer's Tournament Golf
Revenge of Shinobi
World Championship Soccer
Tommy Lasorda Baseball
Joe Montana Football
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Joe Montana II: Sports Talk Football
Sonic The Hedgehog

I had a 1996 rerelease of Sonic 1, it had the original packaging, but it had 1996 copyrights on the manual and case, I even think it had a ESRB rating on it.

Golden Axe as well received the Sega Classics treatment.

Ok, added to the list. I kind of forgot about that one for some reason, I rememeber seeing it back in the day, but I spent the $20 on Streets of Rage, Sega Classics edition. :)

For some reason I really hated Golden Axe on Genesis, but I like the arcade version and the second one (Genesis and arcade).

Arnold Palmer's Tournament Golf also got a 'Classics' release.

What was it about Genesis Golden Axe you didn't like? It's obviously not quite as loverly as ol' arcade, but I think it's an amazing port, especially for when it was released. I do hate the final boss battle, though. Oh good lord do I hate it.

Didn't Phantasy Star II also get the classics rerelease?

David J.

Nope, none of them did. :( If any of them had, they would all be more common.

How about Super Hang On?

Look what I found:

Sega Classics (http://homepage.mac.com/greggillis/images/1992/segaClassics.jpg)

But PS2 and 3 where never rereleased...

It only says Phantasy Star 2 and 3 have a new low price, not part of the Sega Classics series. I've never seen PS2 or 3 in that style of box. Can anyone provide pics if I am wrong (which I never am, BTW :) )? I like how they renamed Joe Montana to "Joe Montana 1". Every game should be like that. "Gleylancer 1". "Alisia Dragoon 1". "Chakan the Beached Surfer Dude 1". Even if they never have sequels.

Ah, gotach. If they where rereleased in that style of box, they'd be more common. The whole "Classic RPG" caught me and Melf off guard.

Well, I don't think the Sega Classics version of Joe Montana really has the number one on the box in real life, just a mockup in the ad. The carts and manuals are pretty much the same through out the Sega Classic releases. Although my now missing SOR-classics manual was a black and white copy like the later genesis manuals, ie a low quality reprint.

Embedded URLS!! Please!!

IIRC, PS2 was rereleased without the hint book, but with the same packaging. It was never technically a part of the Sega Classics line. I think the same happened to PS3.

Oops, sorry there Melf!

I never did see PS2 or PS3 during that time frame, I bet it was a limited reissue. Now I just gotta figure out more about that 1996 rerelease of Sonic I had.

I feel bad for anyone who got the Sonics with the huge NOT FOR RESALE plastered right on front of the box.

Just found a joe montana II sport talks football on ebay.

So...me, then? I appreciate the sympathy.

Well, I looked on ebay and within five seconds I found a non-not for resale sonic.

It was the Sega Classics release, but I bought the game to play, not to stare at the boxart forever. I needed a new Sonic because the top on my old one broke off. And I always wanted another Non-not for resale Sonic because I gave my old one away.

The top of the cartridge? You must stop throwing those things around the room!

It was like that when I got it. But I didn't pay for it. ;)
