View Full Version : New video tags

In addition to the current Youtube tags, I have enabled a few other types of videos to be embedded on the forum. They are as follows:

-Google Video
---place URL here---

-Daily Motion
---place URL here---

***The following tags require the video NUMBER instead of the URL, just like the current Youtube tag:***

-Vimeo
---place video NUMBER here---

-Facebook
---place video NUMBER here---

I actually came up with a Myspace code, but it was very complicated, a pain to use and nobody cares much about Myspace any more, so I deleted it. I also had one for Livevideo but it auto-played and there was no way to stop it from doing that, so away it went.

IMPORTANT NOTE: - I do not have buttons for these new video codes (it would also clutter things up), so you will have to type the tags in yourself (you can do it, I believe in you) or copy+paste them from here. Youtube will likely remain the prominent video source on the forums, but these codes are here if you need them.

About the DailyMotion tag, it only works with the direct flash based link, not the standard URL, this is easily fixed by replacing /video/ in the URL with /swf/, but you may want to point this out.

With the standard URL:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbqyki

With the direct flash URL:
http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/xbqyki

We should be updating the forum to vBulletin version 8 soon. Will the upgrade affect the new tags?

Don't think so. What is new about vBulletin 8?

Edit:
Not much new in version 4.0.0:

All this sounds good. Nice to see updates, and not just a bbs who simply must stay the way it is, because it's been working for some time. But I love simplicity though.

could you sticky this thread? I get lost having to look up those other embedding tags, since I occasionally want to link to a vid from a site other than youtube...

sorry for bumping this, but there's a bug in the video embed code for Google Video: Whatever URL you use, it always embeds the same video!

Example a:

URL: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2216605700430993476#

embedded: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2216605700430993476#

Example b:

URL: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7940028623780275043

embedded: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7940028623780275043
