Ah yes you are correct. I didn't think of that. Although you could use a multi tap to overcome that, unfortunately the options menu only lists one or two player game options.

The boss fights do play a bit smoother I think. But still some occasional heavy slowdown during the level parts. I'm not very far yet though.
