When my Brother and I took a trip to Seattle in 1993, we stopped by a (Circuit City?) store and I bought Vasteel (over Exile) since Working Designs TG-16 games weren't sold in Canada and he bought...
There are some groups that sketchy, but projects like Paprium was all red flags from the moment the Magical Gem system was announced.
During the development and rolling pre-sales of Paprium,...
Pre-crash "homebrew" is thriving. Cote Games is a French developer and publisher who make over the top box sets with all kinds of extras to accompany their impressive Intellivision games.
Their...
This is cool, but I was disappointed that the Mega Drive game isn't being published.
Edit: the site keeps adding video tags and after removing enough it puts them back and doubles the links plus the message text. So I had to remove all of the videos. :/
Some that I've really...
It is the latest version of that game. It has been updated again (I believe) with a new sound driver to allow FM sound effects and has the gameplay changes that the "Extra" version of the arcade game...
I've never been a serious beat 'em up player but my friends and I played everything we came across bitd. I don't remember learning the kinds of gameplay intricacies I often see described here, but I...
Even by SNES standards the mirroring is excessive. The pixelart is great and it it has pretty nice coloring instead of wasting the color flexibility on drab schemes.
But it's also a small game and...
That's a lot of fing hating you're doing for real.
This makes more sense for a shaded silhouette. Are there degrees of opacity for S/H?
World of Illusion shouldn't have had such wide elements for sprites to pass behind if it was going to result in...
Rush 2049 will never be dethroned as having the ugliest arcade cabinet ever made.
I don't know if the Mega Drive can do it the same way, but some PC Engine games do silhouette effects using tile/sprite layer priority. The most famous one is when Jackie Chan walks behind columns.

It should have always been an option in ports of tate games to Mega Drive and PC Engine. Neither way adds any sprites or anything.
There are around a dozen PCE games that support both modes but...
I think that Paprium, like Pier Solar, was actually marketed as the biggest "16-bit" game. Even if you're only counting consoles that aren't Neo Geo, it's still silly considering CD games exist and...
I agree with youe points, but in the unique case of Paprium it has been held up to the highest standards by Fonze in every possible way, including ways we'd never have thought of, since development...
I got to play it once on a trip bitd. As soon as I saw it in action I thought, "they're not even trying to be Rastan". It's just their attempt to do widescreen Golden Axe. :P
I was disappointed...
It's too bad Sega never made a Mega Drive version Arabian Fight and given it the console treatment like Shadow Dancer and E-Swat. The theme would have stood out from other beat'em up bitd.

It's not illegal to download or even play a rom of anything.
Directly lifting assets from a published game and using them in your own game and selling it is not remotely the same thing as playing...
It was specifically made for the Game Gear Micro.

The SNES CD was going to have no more space for content than the Super CD format. None of the existing carts games getting tacked on "CD" soundtracks could run off of the SNES CD format.
You'd be surprised. The classic gaming community is full of people who believe that MSU1 hacks show what SNES CD games would have been like and that the Road Blaster demo is what the SNES could have...
When someone hypes their game before they've even started and keeps it up for a decade making direct comparisons to the best professionally made games... it doesn't matter when it was released.

The NES Doom technically converts images to use an element of NES graphics but it's very much not running on NES hardware. I don't think that a still frame of it could be recreated on a real NES.
I literally had a CDX + 32X in 1994. This monstrosity looks huge by comparison.
