Default Genesis Model 2 Black Screen Of Death

I recently bought a VA1.8 model 2 Genesis that does not acknowledge cartridges. I thoroughly cleaned the cartridge slot with rubbing alcohol, a paper towel, and a laminated card. I even re-flowed the solder on the cartridge slot pins, but it still cannot reach the TMSS screen on any of my cleaned and fully functional games. When I examined the console for damage, I was able to find some corrosion on ASIC pins 161 and 162. Could this be causing the unit to ignore cartridges and just display a black screen? Here's a picture of the corrosion:

Those pins are definitely important... see if there's continuity and scrape off all the corrosion.

As it turns out, the corrosion ate through the solder pads that connected pins 161 and 162 to their respective traces. I lifted the pins, reconnected them with some phone wiring and the unit is now fully functional!

    **2020 Update**:

I've since redone the connections with two small ceramic capacitor leads (heated to 370C). Amazingly, pin 162 was able to bend from the top of the IC back down to the solder pad without breaking.
