Ideally both: JP is the original game, but the EU version is the last official version (ie. the Director's Cut), adding features like the 100 lives cheat and fixing a ton of slow down issues with the JP version.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Master code (improved). Keeps the game from getting stuck at the SEGA screen when using codes, and makes the game load faster.

Get $600 from your Dad at the beginning of the game (instead of $300). It will still say $300, but you'll get $600.

    AADB-DBC2
Get $9000 from your Dad at the beginning of the game (instead of $300). It will still say $300, but you'll get $9000.
