Default Lost in the Arcade: Sega Games

The arcades are filled with quality titles that never made it to a home console, and the Genesis era is no exception. With Lost in the Arcade, Sega-16 kicks off a new article series that takes a look at those games which were denied to us, and ponders the reasons behind such baffling decisions. Each installment will highlight a different company, and we begin with the most important Genesis company of all: Sega themselves. Read it and weep folks.

Great article. I remember some of these games and hoped they would've found their way home. I love Sega, but have to admit they did make some boneheaded moves especially in regards to their CD and 32 X systems by not releasing games that would have increased sales.

Looking forward to the next article!

That arcade game of spiderman sure brings back memories. That game rocked. It should of made it on the genesis if it had to water it down who cares. I never got past the green goblin. The other Golden Axe is another game that I got the chance to play. I beat that game it was awesome definitely worth making it to a home system. Memorieeees.

Air Break? It's Air Bike! I should know, because Air Bike Cop is a nick I use a lot online.

Power Drift was planned for the Sega CD, and the sequel to G-loc, Strike Fighter was released on the Sega CD as After Burner 3, with a few differences.

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

Putting it on the Genesis would have ruined it. They should stick it on the next Sega Classics collection, as long they don't screw it up.

X-men was left in the arcade, which is one of the best arcade games on the planet.

Yeah, X-Men was a real blast. One of the best beat 'em ups ever. There was an arcade here that had the 6-player version and I used to play it religiously. I think it was the first game I one-credited.

yeah the only problem with X-men was that it was far too easy, 2 people could finish it in like an hour and a half.

Nooh the problem is that you have to pay for it in the arcades, thats a uge problem if they ported it it would be a bit nicer im not a arcade gamer but i only look because io know its to expensive,If they puuted some games on 32x like x-men that would have been great, but on the other hand the arcade also needs its valeu for that.

By the time the 32X came out X-Men and Aliens weren't even in that many arcades anymore so if anything it would've let them make one last buck on the games.
