    Default Zombie High (Proto) Discovery

Ever heard of this game? It's a prototype that's floating around where you play as a kid who has to battle his way through a slime covered high school corridor. The game seems to come to an abrupt end when you are face with a couple of slime nurses who are invulnerable; but I can now say, there's more to this proto! Read on!

Is this a new level and a debug menu? I believe it is!

Click here to download a massive pack of 72 pngs of levels, bosses and mini-games previously undiscovered...until now. I'll be back later, and reveal how to activate the cheat as well give you guys an in depth look at my other discoveries.

Yeah, I remember finding this some time ago. It seems like it could've been a really fun game. Too bad the proto is so unfinished. Still, it's nice to see a what could've been for the Genesis. Now if only someone could find a proto of X-Women.

To activate the debug functions, you need to plug a pad into the second port. Now:

    - Hold A and press START to aceess the debug menu; press Up/Down to change option and press Left/Right to toggle ON/OFF. Continue to hold A at this menu and pressing Up/Down will change it from misc to pallete.
    - Press START for a clean pause.
    - Hold A+B+C to reset the current level; this important - read below.
    - Holding B or C gives screen tearing at the top; could be more to this.

The Misc debug menu will give you the following selectings:

    - Cheating; Enable this for Invincibitly
    - Single Step Movement: Frame by frame movement. Need to reset (above) to disable.
    - Version: Game compile date.
    - Entering Enemys: Enable to stop foes from spawning.
    - Travis Health: Adjust health.
    - Travis Weapon Count: Adjust ammo.
    - Travis Weapon Level: Adjust weapon strenght; didn't notice any difference though.
    - Travis Weapon Type: Change your weapon. Only half work, and those that do come with no ammo (the Weapon Count option should fix that). Working weapons include Bullet,Slime,Book,Grenade,Axe,Dynamite,Bone,Kravit s Ruler,Dithers Axe,Snite Slime, Snite Oslime and Bulldog Bone.
    - Restart To: Use Left/Right to adjust level and then reset (above) to warp to that stage.
    - Tarvis Jump Boost Frames: I assume this is supoosed to increase jump height, but it does nothing.
    - Sound Command: Sound test. Use Left/Right to change track, press B to play. 01 is a possible BGM for a title screen, 02 is the BGM for the Slugfest level and 10 disables BGM all-together.
    - Lives Per Game: Adjusts starting lives; must kill yourself for it to take affect.
    - Travis Cursor Mode: Press Right to adjust it to "Set!" to be able to move freely around the level as a crosshair with the first pad. Hol A to increase speed. To return to normal, simply reset (above).
There are three bosses in the game:
    - First boss is a fat teacher in a desk; walk into her with the apple and she'll come to life. Fire directly into her mouth to score a hit.
    - Second boss is a massive gym coach. I have no idea how to fight this guy.
    - Final boss, twin heads. Weak point unknown, but you start with a upgraded slime gun.

Unrelated to the cheats, I've also found that you can open some doors; simply face the handle and press C. If it does open or you get no sound effect (locked), it's unopenable. Some doors lead to classes, the janitor or just a random mini-game.

Yay, like discoveries. Never thought that the game had boss battles or mini-games. Cool!
By the way, how you found out about this debug mode. Did you just try all possible methods?

That's because you've only played the first level; the debug cheat I stumbled upon allows you to get the other levels. It's far from complete, mind you.

@Foxysen: Pot luck. Just happened to have a second pad in and pressed A+B+C to see if it did anything - when it reset the stage, I tried holding A and pressing START and got the debug menu. Pure luck.

Just tried this on the first level and found out that it can be also used on washbasins. Using washbasins either make it spit 3 slimes up or spit water in your face (Heals you).
Also you can actually beat the first level (!). Crazy, that no one found out about this. First, you need to get to door number "4" near slime nurser. There will be janitor inside. This dialouge is absolutly empty, not even something like "Question 1" will be there.
But after returning from janitor room, books (weapon) will appear below lamps and you will be able to open lockers too. Opening will reveal either a monster (Quickly jump back) or book or nothing.
Picking up a book will make it appear on interface. Now you can change between Travin's main weapon and book by pressing A+B.
These books can actually kill slime nurses and you will be able to finish level. But before exiting level some yellow key will appear above last locker. Picking it up make a number "0" and key icon appear on the interface. Even though this key can appear again and you can pick it up, the key number will still show "0". So far I don't know any use for this thing...

Thanks man, I only played around with the game for an hour or so; interesting that you that out. What I do know is, after the first level, you have to ascend some stairs to reach a locked door. Below you is a pool of blood cripping up after you; you have to use the chandiler and kill the gargoyle creature above. That should open the way to the next level, but they didn't program the door to open. So the only way to the next stage is to use the debug menu (the Slugfest stage).

Thanks for posting these findings. I just played through each level with the debug code. It's a shame that a more polished version has yet to surface. In my opinion, the potential for a fun run 'n gun is there. Many thanks again for finding a way past the supposedly invincible witches!

Judging by some magazine scans on Unseen 64, there maybe a more-worked on version that hasn't seen the light of day yet, so who knows, you may get you're wish.

I'm glad you find the code useful and thanks very much fo the rep; it means alot.
