Smile Facts: Genesis needs only 3-botton Control Pads.

Having reads Genesis Instruction Manual makes me realize that ALL GENESIS GAMES need only the 3-botton Control Pads.

Here is some fact based on the manual:
    3-botton Pads:
    Alien 3
    Allien Storm
    Battle Squadron
    Burning Force
    Dahna
    ESWAT
    F 15 Strike Eagle II
    Fatal Fury
    Galares
    Ghouls N Ghosts
    Golden Axe I
    Golden Axe II
    Golden Axe III
    Hellfire
    Herzog Zwei
    Jungle Pad
    Kid Chamelon
    Kolibri - 32 X
    Mega Turican
    Mortal Kombat
    Musha
    Quack Shoot: Donald Duck
    Ristar
    Sagala
    Scooby Doo
    Sonic 3
    Sonic 3D Blast
    Street Of Rage I
    Street of Rage II
    Tempo - 32X
Jurassic park - The Lost World
    Turrican
    Two Crude Dudes
    Vapor Trail
    Wonder Boy in Monster World
    Worms
    X-Men 2

    6-botton Pads:
Bare Knucles III [manual in Japanese, can't read it].

    3-botton OR 6-botton Pads:
    Samurai Shodown
    Super Street Fighter II
    Techno Clash

    Conclusion:
If you want to replace Genesis control pad, pick the 3-botton one.
It is also much more comfortable than 6-botton in term of sizes.

I find the official Sega wireless controller just as comfortable as the 3 button one.

Fighting games are shit with the 3-button pad though, especially the MK games.

The only reason all games work with the 3-pad is because it was the main input device so pretty much all games had to support it... The only ones that don't are those that came bundled with a different device (e.g. the game pack that came with the Menacer).

Seriously, a 6-pad is better if you can get it. It's backwards compatible with the 3-pad, after all =/

Well, to start with, Golden Axe III and Mortal Kombat should be under 6-button.
And then there's all the other fighting games that benefit from the 6-buttoner, some of the better known ones:

    Yuu Yuu Hakusho
    Weaponlord
    Eternal Champions
    Mortal Kombat II
    Mortal Kombat 3
    Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Street Fighter II' Special Champion Edition
    Fatal Fury
    Fatal Fury 2

And other non-fighting games, such as:

    Earthworm Jim 2
    William's Arcade Greatest Hits (Robotron)
    Ranger-X
    Comix Zone

    There's many more.

Sorry my friend, just checked from the manual. Golden Axe III and Fatal Fury need only 3-botton.
