    However, only a small chunk (too few IMO) supported 6 button features in gameplay. (had Sega made it pack-in standard, that probably wouldn't be the case, then again, Sony kept the non-analog PSX controller standard with many low-end bundles of the PSX and PSOne for years and many games pushed analog support anyway )
    Oops. Meant to say "three." Fixed.

    Question: Can you use the extra 3 buttons (X,Y,Z) on Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage 2?

    * Sorry for the revive!

    Thanks!

    Batman Forever also needs the six button controller to be anywhere near playable.

    I rarely have the option to use the 3 extra buttons in games but knowing that my controller has 3 extra buttons makes every game tons of fun.

    Nope, part 3 is the only game that took advantage of the extra buttons.

    No mention of Lost Vikings? Not only does it use the 6 button controller, but it actually uses the mode button during gameplay, as well.

    What Sik said, plus the fact that the 6-button controller is probably the best gamepad I've ever used, except for the lack of shoulder buttons (which are damned handy in certain games). Certainly it's the best D-pad I've ever used.

    Best D-pad of any controller made, including the Saturn.

    The Street Fighter series on the Genesis was pretty awesome.

    For titles that don't require 6-bottons however, the original pad is great. So comfy.

    And that's why no one plays Genesis games with me anymore.

    Both are comfortable to me, the only thing I do not like about the 6 button is its d pad, its like the d pad on the 360 controller, I like the 3 button d pad better.
