Default What games did you want to see most on the 32X?

I saw a similar thread over in the Genesis/MD forum about Genesis/MD games, so I thought I might ask a similar question here about the 32X.

I was most disappointed over Rayman getting canceled. So what do I miss?

    Rayman
    Sonic Xtreme
    Tomb Raider

And before anyone says the last is impossible, I ran the PC-DOS version on a 20MHz 386 with 8MB of ram and no hardware video accelerator. It wasn't very fun, but it serves to make a point - the PC version of Tomb Raider wasn't geared around running on that system, but did in a way that you could actually play it.

It would've been nice to see some OutRun and Super Hang-On, to take advantage of the 32x's powers...
    Genesis all the way!

Any Sega Scaler games would have been bought upon release. I was looking forward to Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Castlevania back in the day. Looking backward I wish AMOK would have been released for the 32X so I could compare the same game on the Saturn.

Going by the rumored cancelled 32X lists I would have loved to see all of these games. I think even half of them would have gone a long way toward legitimizing the 32X in the ever obsessed with popularity view.

From the above list I would have certainly been interested in Aftershock, Alien Trilogy, Alien vs Predator, Alone in the Dark 2, Apache, Bike Messenger, Capital Punishment, Color TV, Comix Zone, Dark Stalkers, Daytona USA, Descent, Destruxor, Dogfight, Dracula X (assuming Rondo of Blood), Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp, Dynamite Heady, Flying Aces, Flying Nightmares, Heavy Machinery, Helioblades, Jet Ski Rage, Kingdom Far Reaches, Loadstar, Loadstar 2, Lost Vikings, Maximum Surge, Outpost, Quarantine, Race Driven', Ratchet and Bolt, Rayman, Road Rash 3 (assuming EA could be bothered to make a unique 32X version), Shadow of Atlantis, Shell Shock, Soul Star X, Street Racer, Super Strike Trilogy (more EA's style), Thunderhawk 2 (judging from the Saturn version probably not), Timmy Time, Tomcat Alley Deluxe, Top Gear Overdrive, Virtua Hamster, Wing War, Wirehead, X-Men Mind Games, X-Men Mojo World, Zero Tolerance, Zoro.

I didn't own a 32X BITD, but the three games I most want to see now are --

Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder
    I, Robot
    Hard Drivin'/Race Drivin'

    -- in roughly that order.

If the 32X had lasted a little longer I think it would be interesting to see how Capcom would have handled it. With all the love they gave the Saturn with their 2D Fighters, Megaman 8, X3, and X4, maybe we would have seen 32X versions of those as well.

The canceled Castlevania game. They say that parts of it were used for SotN.

    Woh, that's alotta cancelled games!

From that list of cancelled that look interesting to me:

Garfield in TV Land (big Garfield fan here)
    Heavy Machinery
    Darkstalkers
Kingdom: Far Reaches (a CD32X game that isn't an upraded SCD FMV pile lol)
    Zero Tolerance
    A finished Virtua Hamster
Super Strike Trilogy (if they update the graphics and things for the 32X)
    Surgical Strike

I'd go for Sonic X-Treme, but not the one demonstrated/planned . . . something like Robo Blast would have been a lot better looking/more fun IMO. (perhaps even build directly onto the 32x Doom engine with further performance optimization, etc)
Albeit, one could argue that a robo blast like game would have been better than X-Treme on the Saturn even. (especially if polygonal character/enemy models were used)

And before anyone says the last is impossible, I ran the PC-DOS version on a 20MHz 386 with 8MB of ram and no hardware video accelerator. Yeah, and a 33 MHz 486SX/DX or perhaps 386DX-40 would still be below the 32x's nominal power (though probably roughly comparable to 1 SH2 and with more memory/IO bandwidth than the 32x offers -unless you used particularly slow RAM in said PC).

Still, I can't imagine TR running playably fast on a 386-20 at anything above 320x200 at low detail and close to the smallest screen size.

Though the real challenge of porting it to the 32x would be RAM (and feasible ROM) space, and more trade-offs if a CD game. (unless it was ROM+CD . . . or a RAM cart plus CD )
Running it in low res (like Yeti3D) would probably be a good compromise for rendering speed (probably in 256 colors too, perhaps using paired pixel dithering for pseudo 160x112x16bpp), but the textures and general detail would be very hard pressed within practical ROM sizes in 1996 (and the 32x's limited RAM space to decompress into on to of that) it probably would have been tougher than Quake to convert to the 32x. (again, making it CD only would still leave memory very tight, though cart+CD combo or a RAM cart could make it workable)

They did port Wrestlemania the Arcade game.

I was curious about Ratchet ans Bolt. I would've loved to see how the Capcom games would've fared. And Outrunners oh man why they port that game on Genesis to begin with.

Hm. I haven't played it in a while - I'll fire it up tonight and see how it handles. Do you know if it was done by the same dev. team?
