Replacement printable covers for cardboard boxed games

Cardboard boxes suck! So I've been making replacement printable covers for games that were only packaged in cardboard. The covers are formatted to fit a standard Genesis clamshell case (If anyone wants UGC formatted ones just PM, keep in mind Genesis carts don't sit very well in a UGC). For optimal results, you should print these from Photoshop to avoid the images getting resized. Any well-maintained and properly calibrated printer can be used to print these out.

Here is a list of games that were released in cardboard only. I'll be updating the list as the covers are posted. Also I'm not claiming that this list is perfect, so if you know of any games that should be on there let me know. For now I'm just keeping the list to games that only came in cardboard boxes.

If I can get a hold of some clamshells I'll probably put the manual and carts in clamshells and store the cardboard boxes elsewhere.

This. Those clamshells are a large part of why I don't collect Genny games. Cardboard looks way better, as it did for 3DO and the NES. That's why I buy the fancy packs of Saturn games. (I have mice!).
I'm aware you're doing this because you dislike the cardboard, but if you were to make full cardboard boxes with your own cover art there might be a market for you. Collectors buy MD games for the alternate artwork and expanded cover, you could kill both at once. Just trying to add something less grinchly after my first line.

I know. I meant I wouldn't change cardboard to clamshell either. The rest was solely StarMist. Obiter, not all that plastic's hard: the frontis wrinkles and desiccates much quicker than cardboard. (Is it properly cardboard? Not pulpboard or something kin?)
And for the Saturn I meant not the jewel cases, certainly not the jewel longboxes, but the genteiban such as Harukaze, Sakura (also has fukkokuban), Galaxy Fraulein, Yumimi Remix; then there are the outer boxes, thin such as Tokimeki and Rayearth's, or fat for 2 disk or RAM games (KoF 95). Cardboard longboxes are great though.

You have to be the only person that I've ever heard say that. Cardboard over plastic, you sir are truly unique in this view. I can't say I agree with you on this one at all, I mean, you can't even open those cardboard boxes without wrecking them just a little each time, but hey whatever floats your boat. I guess there might be a very small market (possibly consisting of you and maybe a friend) for custom made cardboard Genny boxes, but I don't see it being very big since clamshells are widely available, they're much more durable and generally the preferred mode of storage. I know people make cardboard boxes for NES games, but that's partially because NES carts don't fit into UGCs without some heavy modification to the inside of the case.

That's not true at all. The plastic will last much longer if you keep it in a somewhat decent environment ie: on a shelf in a dry room. Kept in the exactly same conditions the plastic cases will last a lot longer than the cardboard ones. The cardboard will also begin to yellow and lose colour a lot faster. And like I said, opening those cardboard boxes tends to damage them

Perhaps I'm just fussier than you. Yet I do see plenty of healthy NES boxes about. If you think they'll damage so quickly you could laminate/wax them. Anyhow, do make your covers borderless, that red margin bullshit sucks. (btw did you ever ascertain that G pad brand?)

The red border is what all late Genesis games had on their cases. It's so it matches with the legitimate releases.

I really want to replace my cardboard Genesis boxes with Clamshells. Just sitting on a shelf the boxes become damaged. The weight of the cart slowly pulls down on the inner tray of the box until it finally collapses and wont properly hold the cartridge anymore. The only way to avoid this is to lay them on their backs, which then you have a storage problem as they take up more space. You could stack them but then you have the problem of the lower boxes slowly being crushed by the weight of the boxes on top of them.

The clamshells withstand the test of time better.
