Replacement printable covers for cardboard boxed games

Hey djshok, great job on the covers! I noticed in your first post that you listed Toy Story as a cardboard only game. It was actually released in a clamshell as well. I've got a scan of it if you'd like it. I don't think anyone's made a US retail cover for it at the cover project, yet.

Sure if you've got a scan hook me up. I guess most of the copies came in cardboard boxes, oh well if the clamshell ones are super rare like Castlevania I might as well make a cover.

I've been looking for one and the best I can find is on RF generation but it's nowhere near the quality you'd need to make a good looking cover. Though it might be possible to create a new case using stock photos and a recolored Genesis template.

Yeah I'll look around to see if I can find any artwork to use.

I've got something special today. I came upon this interesting X-Men 2 artwork a while ago while scouring the internet. The curious thing about it is that it was painted by Chris Moeller (a renowed comic book artist from 90's). According to his signature it was painted in '94 - the same year that X-Men 2 was made. This leads me to believe that Sega and/or Marvel had several artists paint the image for the game cover and they chose the one they liked best. Which for the North American version was the popular Ken Steacy version of that image. Oddly enough Europe got a completely nonsensical cover that has nothing to do with the game and is in fact the cover of the Game Gear release X-Men: Game Master's Legacy. So I figured I'd fix that as well.

LOL $35 + $15 S&H for a printed cover inside a UGC. Geez if you're gonna charge that much at least put it in a real Sega Clamshell case.

BTW Djhosk I've been looking everywhere for an Action 52 scan but no luck. Everything I've found is low quality or too small. Or both.

Yeah I do have something for Action 52, it's in pretty rough shape though and is gonna need some serious cleanup so it might be a little while for that one, but it is coming. Don't have anything for Universal Soldier yet...

I'm not selling anything. I'm just drafting these covers and making them available for download for free. You'll have to print them yourself though. It's not economic for me to do it, sorry. Hi djshok.

First off -- thanks for making these. I have a Sega Genesis again for the first time in about a decade and I've been picking up some of the games I used to have. I got some nice copies of Beyond Oasis and Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition in their boxes, but I want to keep them in clamshells instead. So, thank you for saving me the time of putting together my own clamshell reproduction.

Where do you get your Genesis-style clamshells? Do you just repurpose cases from copies of Shaq Fu, or is there a place online to get new clamshells?

Is there any chance you will make a Beyond Oasis that uses the actual North American or European artwork? Or, do you purposefully avoid doing exact reproductions because of the chances they could be used for counterfeits?
