This is a proto Saturn right, so the innards are the same? Awesome discovery, love stuff like this!

    "Saturn."

All sega systems had planet or moon prototype names back then. The Game Gear was the Mercury, the 32X was the Mars, the 32X-Genesis combo was the Neptune, the Jupiter was a cart-based 32-bit project scrapped in favor of the saturn, the Titan is the ST-V, the Venus was the Nomad, etc.
    A retarded Sonic.

Nice form factor! Looks a bit like a PC Engine Duo *edit* and the Panasonic 3DO FZ-10.

Call me heretic, but I think this beatuy looks somewhat sexier than the standard-issue Saturn (it has a few flaws, but since that's to be expected from a prototype...)

The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?

    Heretic! Let the stoning commence!

No, I agree with you. I like the smooth lines here! And I always love the satin black.

Call me a heretic, but I think that thing looks cheap compared to a regular USA Saturn console.

Another one of life's greatest mysteries solved. Now if someone can just mass produce these things on the cheap!
