Bringing this thread back to life for new peeps here
I have the last version of the game 1.03
Interestingly, the Steam version of the game is something in between 1.01 and 1.02 (Spider-Man leaves the batter so the Devil could enter, but Godzilla is still Godzilla and there is no copyright notice).
I remember playing this game a lot as a kid on the 6-Pak. I recently picked up a copy for $1 not sure why the stand alone copy sells so much when revenge of shinboi is on 6pak and be had cheap.
This should be obvious, but:
1) Collectors prefer standalone copies for the original case, manual and artwork.
2) The 6-Pak version has one of the later revisions which is much less sought after.
Everyone wants their revision 1.00 copy with Batman, Godzilla and the rest. The 6-Pak version, not so much.
Canadian variant of 'The Revenge of Shinobi' (on the left). US version on the right. They are very similar but not the same if you look closely.

The Canadian variant appears to be revision 1.01 of the game, based on the opening screens. I haven't played it through yet to confirm though. Chip MPR is 12930F. The chip itself was manufactured in the 4th week of 1990.

Information about the different revisions on Sega Retro appears to be incorrect. The article there says Rev 0 was only released in Japan. However myself and at least a few others on this thread definitely have a Sega Genesis Rev 0 version. In fact that is the version I got when I first bought it in December 89 (ordered from the US).
