The Video Game music appreciation thread

I am sure I am not the only one here to be desperately addicted to video game music.
This thread is about sharing the glory.

I don't want to set strict rules, post whatever you like from whatever system you like from any era you like.
The point is sharing good music from our beloved games.

But I think it would be nice if:
-Quality over quantity: Keep each post short, a few songs at a time. I know its tempting to post a wall of them but I suggest you post more often instead.
-Original music: I would like to see this thread focus on the originals. No problem posting a few remix/covers here and there, but it should not become the point of the thread.
-Some optional text: A short description, anecdote or trivia regarding the track you posted might be nice. In the continuity of the "quality over quantity" aspect.
-Bonus points for underdogs: By all mean post that awesome Megaman 2 song if you feel like it. But you get bonus points if you make us discover that awesome track nobody knows

    I guess i will start.

Since this is a Sega-16 forum, I think it is just right to begin with a Mega drive tune.
One of my favorite game on the console for music is Langrisser II, I am sure many of you are familiar with it.
I really like the frantic music style this game offers. Knight's Errand is possibly the most shared tune in the game, for good reasons.

Ok now for something that most people will likely not know. Its an underrated RPG on the PC. This Is the redbook audio tune from the beginning of the game. One of the most chilling tracks out there, from "Shadows over Riva"

Criminally overlooked game, should be on every top 100 DOS games list:

Crossfire on the Genesis, AKA Super Airwolf. I do like the Airwolf theme on the Japanese version but always love to listen this this through the subwoofer.

Just noticed someone from here has commented on the Youtube video.

While I do love the bass in most MD music I also love the clear melody of plenty NES games too.

    Stuff like Power Blade:

It has so many great tracks, each having a very different feel compared to one another.

There's plenty of cases of very variating soundtracks that kicks ass all the way through, like Shatterhand or Journey to Silius.

If there's one theme I have to pick though it would definitely have to be either:

    or

How could Terminal Velocity Not be in a DOS top 100??

Anyway Loved all those songs and made some cool discoveries ( Just added power blade to my want list )
Im also using a a remix of that Robocob song as the intro for my Xbox
    Keep em coming

All that 8 bit love reminded me why the C64 version of the Transformer movie song is one of my favourite C64 track ever.
Found on the Turrican game ( disk version only iirc)

    Some obscure X68000 music:

    Some obscure PC-98 music:

MSX2 (come on now, this is a much weaker chip than the YM2612 on the genesis, why did we get so much shit instead of this?):

    Neo Geo:

    Arcade:

FM when used well kicks so much ass...

Alien 3 (Genesis) - Stage 2 by Matt Furniss - It gets you pumped for the action.

Fragile Dreams (Wii) - Ruins by Riei Saito - Sad and serene.

Frozen Synapse (PC) - Triumph by Paul Taylor - Surreal and cyberpunky

Way of the Samurai (PS2) - Afterglow by Noriyuki Asakura - Perfect for an evening stroll.

One composer I feel is really underrated is Charles Deenen.
Really love the style of this guy's songs

(Good part in this one starts 1:58)

Two of the best NES composers IMO is ofcourse both of the Follin brothers.
(Made for example that Wolverine theme song)

They pushed out some high quality compositions with a very specific style

Seriously, they managed to make me excited about a game of Pictionary :B

Some awesome 8 bit compositions up here!

Here is a technically impressive one on the NES, composer is Tim Follin. Definitely influenced by 70's style prog rock.

Not a very good game (requires too much ever increasing management, gold is mandatory to get troops but rare, etc...), but the soundtrack is another story (Jesper Kyd):
