Alternate PC version of the game (somewhat HD, but not really) will be released on Steam in a few days. Buyers of both signed BITS release and Unique edition will get a free Steam key (PC version is also now a part of Unique Edition), I'll start sending keys a day or two before release.

Also, bad news, but still important (for everyone):

DO NOT DEAL WITH WATERMELON. I was ripped off by its new owner (Gwenael "Fonzie" Godde, who's also a member of Sega-16 forums), who refuses to pay the royalties he owns me for months. Not to mention he's making A FUN out of it.
I was advised by the previous owner (Tulio) who is aware of the situation to share everything with the public (all e-mail messages concerning the problem). Godde admittedly broke the contract by not paying 4 months ago, I've recently (on May 23) reached him and gave him two weeks to pay the money (it's the end of my patience), otherwise all details of everything will go to the public (so people would see who he really is).

I had no troubles with WM when Tulio was the president, but then he left the company. And he left it because of Godde.

If you want to buy the cartridge version, you can still buy it directly from me. Do not buy it from the WM website.

Wow, hope he pays up. The situation with fonzie holding all the information hostage on other projects is at the boiling point, but i hope you get your due payment.

I kind want to see the whole WM thing blow up. I'm not a huge fan of the way they do things.

Sasha's methods of business are no better in fairness... I look forward to reading the emails!

I'm not trying to stoke the flames, but this is the first time I've heard someone say Sasha's methods are questionable. I constantly hear people complain about WM, though. Just sayin'...

That being said, I hope both parties can work this out in a positive, mutually beneficial manner, as it is not helpful to have teams that won't work with one another in such a small, niche dev community. Megadrive dev is a small subset of a small homebrew subset... Any issues end up hurting everyone involved, including the consumer. I was hoping Sacred Line would be a series of games... That looks more and more impossible seeing the current situation.

I'm out of the loop with this "hostage information"...But it's not the first time I hear he holds something "in hostage".

WM with Tulio was a great thing. Really friendly to developers, too. Now there's a new version of the contract with developers, which practically says "we own anything you made, all your rights are belong to us" (presumably, I'm not the source). Current WM is like Atari, someone uses the name, but it's not the same company (at all).
Whatever troubles they had I've seen, they all they were connected to Fonzie. From promotion to production.

Please let me know what I did wrong.
Yeah, it will take some time. There's A LOT to get through, plus I need to make it chronologically correct and understandable to strangers.

I don't think telling Sasha to be more careful is really helpful here. If what he says is true, then the blame lies on WM. Sasha was developing a game for a dead console and teamed up with a company that had proven they were able to deliver a quality package to full retail. In a community as small as homebrew console dev, your think Sasha would be able to trust the well-known members/teams in the community. Instead, things have turned into a debacle. The game was released, but now there is all this dram, and the sequel may never happen.

It's such a complicated situation. On one hand, I'm grateful that WM published the game, on the other, frustrated that they'd burn a good developer like this. Sasha, from everything I've read and seen, has always been on the level. WM on the other hand, has had an increasingly negative reputation for some time.

They make stuff, some of it is good, the packaging is great, their marketing, PR, and now apparently, internal partnerships, are hot garbage.

You know who doesn't treat fans and business partners and crap? Piko.

Yeah, Piko is pretty much the go-to guy these days.

Honestly, I don't get the impression that Watermelon has enough resources to fight back (at least, not moreso than Sasha). Even then, I can imagine Fonzie screwing up that as well =P

Sasha should really approach Piko for all future Genesis releases. Hopefully, Sacred Line can be wrapped up there.

I've already contacted Sasha for Second Dimension's publishing services. We're also doing Bomb on Basic City for Studio Vetea, and hopefully more to offer in the future Of course, Sasha can choose whomever to go to that he wishes, but just wanted to let everyone know that there are other options.

Sik, I'd love to talk to you about your projects if you have a chance
