    Default Glass Breaker MD v0.11

    http://www.tmeeco.eu/SMD/GBMD11.RAR

After about 8 years I have tweaked the game a bit and made it play nice on 60Hz.
Sometime I'll release the source, to show folks how not to write code hahaha

Hi there! Is this the same one you posted in the other thread? I tried to boot it up, saw a screen for maybe 1/10th of a second and then it spoke and said "Sega Mega Drive" out loud and then nothing but black. Genesis model 2. Haven't tried it on the model 1 yet.

It is the same version. I will test it on real hardware, I did not change anything that would break compatibility... but who knows.
Edit: Did it show a notification about 60Hz ? If not the ROM got patched or something, or you ran it in 50Hz. The game switches to 240 line mode in 50Hz and that will not work it 60Hz. What flashcart is beign used ? Everdrive MD or Mega Everdrive or something else ?
EDIT2: Problem happens here too, I am investigating and a fix will arrive shortly !
EDIT3: Seems in my case problem was lack of SRAM in my flashcart, when I removed SRAM code all is fine. With SRAM enabled I never even get to the Sega logo, or its sound... I tested on MD1 and Nomad, I do not have a MD2 ready to run for the time being (but Nomad is MD2 equivalent internally).
EDIT4: Link has been updated with a version that clears up some SRAM related hassle, and it most certainly works nicely on my flashcart now in 50 and 60Hz on MD1 and Nomad.

I just tried it again from the link above and I have the same problem. Black screen with Sega Mega Drive voice and then another digitized sound after that and then nothing. This console is not modded for 50Hz. Mega Everdrive.

Mega ED can patch games on the fly.

If you do not see this :

Then the game thinks it is running in 50Hz and will enable 240 line res mode. The fact that you heard another sound means the game is actually running, and when 240 line mode is enabled in 60Hz the video signal becomes invalid and depending on output device you see nothing or a rolling screen.
About 2 seconds after the second sound which should be a "bang" press start, then press down 4 times and start again. You should hear more sounds, like "zoom" and "aaagh !"

Ok, that settles it then. I should add some mention of this in the readme file.

    Awesome, Thanks!

And now I read through the .ASM file! Not enough homebrew is written in assembly. Too much C now-a-days.

Mostly from reading on the internet.
    Fun story!

Mojang (creators of minecraft) announced a new game called 0x10c in spring of 2012. It had an in-game computer that was mostly programmed in assembly. I learned the assembly language of the game's fake CPU as my very first programming language in preparation for the game's release. The game got cancelled, so I switched to learning 68000 assembly instead, specifically targeting genesis.

I actually wrote a paper about the experience for my college writing class. I should send it to mojang, I bet they would get a kick out of it.

I had learned x86 assembly earlier, and 68K was really easy to get into. x86 is absolutely terrible compared to 68K...
But yes, internet is where it all came from.

This game was my second ever thing for MD. The code is absolutely horrible hahaha
