-Blowout (Think Contra on the PS2. 2D sidescrolling fun. It's only drawback is that it is played via analog stick )
-Genji (superb action title with gameplay on par with the Onimusha and Devil May Cry games).
-Future Tactics (Purely a tactics game for the tactics lover)
    -Gradius V
    -GrimGrimmoire
    -Odin Sphere
    -Gungrave
    -Gungrave 2
-Mobile Light Force 2 (Part of the Shikigami Universe)
    -Rogue Galaxy
    -Shining Force EXA
    -Silpheed: The Lost Planet
    -R-Type Final
I watched a vid of Alter Echo and it looks like a futuristic version of Soul Reaver. The similarities are uncanny. The costume and designs of the main characters look like they were traced and modified by Rob Liefield, and both games even start out the same (generally speaking).

I have played both and I have to say they play completely differently.

    I'd like to add:

Radiata Stories--Awesome RPG by Tri-Ace that combines the recruiting possibilities of Suikoden with a decent story and interactive real-time combat.
Crimson Sea 2--Hack-and-slash sci-fi adventure, carried over to the PS2 after the series debuted on Xbox.
Phantom Brave--Strategy RPG in the vein of Disgaea (same developer) but with more freedom of movement. Virtually everything about the characters is customizable. Definitely not a pick-up-and-play game, but rewarding in its own way.
    Lest a fickle world forgets...
