Default Microsoft unearth's Atari ET Burial Site

So apparently the rumor that Atari buried tons of unsold copies of old ET and other 2600 games in a landfill is true. Microsoft did an excavation of the supposed landfill and found copies of ET, Centipede, Missile Command, etc. buried in the landfill, some still with shrinkwrap.

Here is the link advertising the excavation:

Wow, they found a couple of carts. This whole urban legend MUST BE TRUE!

I prefer to have more evidence before I jump to conclusions and sensationalize, unlike the media.

Perhaps I wowed too soon. They only seem to have just started digging and just found a few Atari games on the surface. According to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcuwP2W73uE they're supposed to have to dig 22 feet then they'll hit cement, then below that there's the Atari games. Or something.

At least I get E.T., but what kind of a D-bag would do that to a game like Centipede or Missile Command?

I almost picked up an E.T. cart for $2 yesterday, but thought I'd hold out and get a boxed copy from Ebay. That might have been a mistake, because I'm pretty sure this recent discovery is going to spark an interest in the game and the prices are about to go up.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Apparently all that stuff by their feet is Atari 2600 games. And more evidence, ET Shipping boxes:

A man identified as a "James Rolfe" was seen fleeing the scene carrying a red child's shovel and bucket.

edit : bah i took too long to post, now that they hit the mother-lode the joke makes no more sense.

Except that in this case, CIB means "crushed in box."
