    Default Dendy Chronicles

So Dendy Chronicles is this series of videos done by a russian gamer going by the name of Kinaman and focuses on the Russian Fami-Clone console, Dendy, as well as the numerous chinese hacks that solid for it. Luckily a good handful of his earlier stuff has been translated into english, including the prologue "The Grey Elephant's Curse"

And I always thought the Final Fantasy name game here in USA was bad.
You basically had no choice I suppose, but I'd rather nothing at all over accepting inferior goods.
Call it ego, call, it pride, I say it is self worth.
To each their own I guess.
Sorry to hear about this though.
Fuck that Elephant and fuck the pirates who are still making and selling that crap to this very day.
Every so often someone puts these up for sale here on 16 as well.
The gig is up dudes, we know exactly what you are peddling, A PIRATED PILE OF DOGSHIT.
If someone buys into it, they know what they are buying and want proof of said ABOMINATION.
Just don't try to pawn this stuff off as "Legit and Licensed", this is 1ST world you're talking to here.
    We know the difference.

Heh, I watched a couple of his vids in Russian in the past - without understanding a single word
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Don't they have their own internet now?

Looks worth a watch even though I have no idea what he's saying.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

Found something interesting that was also translated into English

It's this review/product placement show for Dendy called "Dendy: The New Reality" that aired from 94-96 on Russian tv

Wow, I watched that entire video. Pretty amazing to imagine having that crazy pirate stuff and not knowing any better.
It may no longer be the `90s, but there is still time for Klax.

Yeah, especially when some of the games like TMNT had all that piracy protection that made the game significantly more difficult

This video was really interesting, thank you for sharing it. I never realized how tough gaming was for Russians back then. It was hurdle after hurdle.

PAL systems not showing color on SECAM televisions, 50hz slowdown, crappy build quality, misleading game titles, games not in the Russian language, and games that raised difficulty as anti-piracy. I have head of Dendy before, but I didn't know how popular it was in Russia until today. I wonder if I could get one shipped to the states and mod it to work on NTSC TVs.
    Modded consoles:
Master System (v7040) with s-video & direct AV out
Model 1 with 10mhz overclock & halt switches
    Model 1 with 10mhz 68010
    Model 2 VA2.3 with unfiltered Mega Amp, & s-video
    Model 3 VA1 with compatibility fixes & s-video
    32X with s-video

No need to mod it if you have a set that will utilize both ntsc and pal.
I have a flatscreen led that can play my play my pal ps1 backups with no problems.
At least that's an option if you live in the US.
