Genesis Model 1 Genesis Humming Headphone Jack Sound

I have my audio coming out of the headphone jack on my model 1 sega genesis, and it's making a buzzing sound. The AC adapter is the OEM Sega Genesis Model 1 and I don't have stereo jacks on my Genesis.

I tried my computer headphones and I hear the buzzing too on it. Why is this happening?

    Update:

I left the genesis on for a few minutes and it finally stopped making the buzzing sound. Maybe it's because it's cold here in Fort Worth?

If it went away after it was on for a bit I'd say you probably have some failing audio caps. Sounds like it's time for replacement!

Yep, a re-cap should fix it.

I'll get someone to do it after I get a job - money's tight on me and I don't want to wreck my system.

Thankfully it isn't an issue with the power supply as what you guys are saying, just old caps.

Are you able to do it for free? I can't spare much money right now.

My Genesis could use a recap. I too am getting a buzz out of the headphone jack when used with a 3.5mm to RCA cable to plug stereo sound from the Genesis into my setup. Or are there other potential issues like RF interference?

Not so much a buzz, but the volume slider itself can start to wear out and cause audio issues. Usually squealing and static but I suppose anything could be heard. And as has been mentioned in this thread as well, the caps are due to replacement anyway if they haven't recently.

Well, there a cap inside the PSU too which can presumably cause buzzing issues.
