Why do so many people wait "years" to ask to be approved? When you sign up, it tells you to contact a moderator if you don't get the confirmation email within 48 hours. I don't understand why people wait so long. They'd be registered so much more quickly if they just spoke up.

Idk. Why do you have to be approved/be confirmed after you create a Username & Password? Why can't you just log in like almost every other site on the web?

Because then you'd have to wade through page after page of spam and crap as the site would be bombarded by spammers and bots. It's the reason why we have the protocol in the first place. It's with the protocol and there are still bots trying to register CONSTANTLY. The last time we got rid of the anti-spam measures, it took over a week to clean up the forum.

Very interesting. I had no idea. I have a friend who recently created a forum website. I will ask her what she did to allow for the quick Username/Password creation, then an email to me to complete the registration, with instant access after.

Would this be fixed by the $250 forum software upgrade you mentioned recently?

I'm not sure. I hate vBulletin and would be loathe to give them anymore money, but I don't think we would be able to do that kind of upgrade right now anyway. I'd have to ask Nick, the server owner about it.
