Back to the Future Part III

Sometimes, a game comes along that totally justifies the stigma attached to licensed titles. We're talking utter trash here, and a few releases can be quickly named when one is asked to mention which ones stand out the most (anyone remember LJN's abysmal X-Men game for the NES?). Back to the Future Part III is a card-carrying member of that sorry list, and it joins Wayne's World, Dark Castle, and Bible Adventures as the only games in Sega-16 history to receive the dreaded score of "1." This is the bottom of the barrel folks, so take a deep breath before you read our full review, and then wonder why someone doesn't take a Delorean back in time to smite the chumps who created this train wreck of a game. We could have all been spared some serious pain.

I remember not being able to get far at all in this game. Kind of glad I didn't.

Why are the screenshots all greyed out?

Because I had to increase the brightness. The actual screen shots are so dark that you can barely see them.

See, even the screen grabs for this game suck.

Anyone want to travel back in time and prevent this game from being made?

I love the BTTF trilogy and I hate every single BTTF game made except for "Super BTTF 2".

I think about the first BTTF game made for the NES and I get angry, I think about renting "2&3" for NES and I become furious. Then I remember that I actually downloaded the ROM of "Part 3" and played it.

I'd call these games "shit", but that would just insult shit.

LOL! I figured you did that so readers' eyes wouldn't bleed (as much).

I've noticed that every time I try to talk to a person my age about Genesis, all they've ever played is this game and Sonic.

It must've sucked to get this on Christmas Day.

I saw the 1 it got looked at the screenshots and thought is 1 harsh? I never played it by the way, then I continued to read the review a little more and realised wait a minute, this is worse than the free cd games they were sticking onto the back of those cornflakes boxes, a disgrace to the megadrive

Thank you for pointing this out!

Is it just the ROM that has those darkness problems, or is that in the actual game too?

I'd say they were going for a candlelight effect since the movie was in 1885, but that would constitute the idea that the developers had talent.

Well, this is the second shittiest game I own.

I spent about 40,-DM for it (about 30,-$ I think) because I loved the movies so much. I had read the reviews, but hey, as a fanboy you can usually rate a game one or two points higher than an average gamer.

Not in this case. It just sucks, and you can tell that it was also available for the C64. On that machine this kind of game may be called "okay", but not on MD.

BTW: There actually was a Master System-version that looked about the same.
About Probe: Unlike the review´s author I think that Probe was a good company. They made both Alien and Die Hard Trilogy, two huge hits in their time.

About the screenshots: No, the game looks just normal when playing on my MD...

Would be cool if SE gave me FF XIII as the first person in the world; but for some reason, they don´t.

The shittiest game I own is Fun´n Games for Mega Drive. A program for painting (no mouse support), composing music, dressing up people (!) and including various mini games.
