okakkkky so the thing compiles?!?! I've never played, don't know the controls! Literally wanted to see if it worked!
wow!
Cave Story was one of my favorite games back then, the port looks and sounds awesome so far.
Thanks for the info.

https://github.com/andwn/cave-story-md/releasesCheck the releases tab.
I wasn't aware this tab even existed.
Wow! This is a very cool game.
Really cool its also on the megadrive.
Hey, anybody besides me keeping track of this project?

So far slow down seems to be gone (can't 100% confirm yet), a lot more of enemies now attack (originally only those from the cave at the beginning did) and a good bunch of stuff that was broken now is fixed. The biggest downside is that now there's a crash when killing some enemies which kind of brings down all the progress =| Here hoping it gets fixed.
Also I stumbled upon a nasty surprise as saving won't work under BlastEm because the header doesn't report SRAM information properly (this can be easily fixed with a hex editor, luckily). Either edit the header or use an emulator that always emulates SRAM... or use savestates =P
EDIT: go figure, the latest update fixes that crash bug (updated link accordingly).

I've also been keeping an eye on this one. I hadn't actually heard of the game at all before this port, so I'm gradually playing through the PC version too.
This is awesome! I hope it gets finished. I haven't played this game in almost 10 years now, and I didn't complete it back in the day either, so if it gets completely ported, then I may go back and play through.
A new snapshot is available:

What?! Oh man... This is awesome. I hope this gets completed!
Earlier this month, I went ahead and 100% completed the original game. The Genesis port gave me the urge to. I quite enjoyed it, and the final area wasn't as hard as I expected. I just had to be patient and there's some element of memorization.
Anyway, I like to see this project move along at the pace it is, and I can't wait until it's completed and I'll give it another play through.
I don't know if anyone else here is following this project, but another update was released about two weeks ago. I haven't tried the latest version, but the previous version has given me much fun already. Hopefully the game sees total completion because its an excellent port so far, I just wish I didn't already have so many other games I'm trying to play.

Oh hello, this is an interesting thread. Here have a funny glitch.
There was a new version released yesterday, I'll be playing it tonight. This game is really impressive, looks like the perfect game to port to the system.
Dropping it here:
