Default What is your "horror" game favorite ?

My choice is Splatterhouse 2 for Genesis. I had good memories in back days playing it.

Wii is dying. Last game Just Dance 2020. Thanks for all!

I guess the closest for me would be somewhere on the Castlevania/Splatterhouse/G'nG/House of the Dead line. I'm always going to prefer fast paced action to slower survival/stealth/adventure types.

I don't handle scary games very well - so anything that is 'horror' is where I need to have someone sitting with me as I play. Here are a few I own and enjoy though:

    Parasite Eve
House of the Dead 2, Typing of the Dead
Resident Evil, 2, 3, Code: Veronica
    Snatcher
    Splatterhouse 3

Games as a child that terrified me but today can now play by myself :

    Castlevania series (especially Bloodlines!)
    Doom
    Ecco the Dolphin

Games I think that are scary but want to play:

    Dark Arms: Beast Buster
    Deep Fear
    Vice: Project Doom

Games that I think are terrifying and will never, ever play:

    Clock Tower
    Silent Hill series

I like my Castlevania on various systems. Also the Splatterhouse series, particularly Part 3.

My all time favourite is PSX Doom (and Final Doom) though. Aubrey Hodges ambient soundtrack elevates it to a whole new level, always loved it since it came out. My only misgiving is lack of Nightmare difficulty.

Not so much a fan of Resident Evil or Silent Hill type survival horrors, I prefer pure action games with horror trimmings if anything.

oh man, SH3 really deserves more love - and i adore REmake, but never finished it on GC! gonna try the PS4 one also around halloween

Isolation i wanted to love, played a few acts & just could not get into it at all. i respect reserving the main threat, but man that was like hours of just boring puzzles/plodding along with no payoff

While I can understand this, I couldn't disagree more. Isolation is probably my favorite game of the past two years. Realistically I wouldn't even give it a 8.5 out of 10, but(for me at least)what it does well, it does extremely well. Ambiance and tension are turned up to 11 in all the right places. However, that is all run through my Alien franchise positive bias filter. So, maybe it really is poorly paced and boring.

The original Alone in the Dark. It's still one of my all-time favorite games and I regret using a walkthrough back in the day.
Even though I was probably too young to figure out the puzzles on my own. Loved scouring the library and reading the books to get hints.

Do I need to know Japanese to play Deep Fear?

You don't because the game was released in Europe and I think a NTSC is around too now. Both are in English.
    Don't dream, play Dreamcast!
