It already looks better than Sonic 4 (not hard to do), so yeah, if it handles like an actual Sonic game, I would check it out.

This is the best news from Sega in years. I'm glad that Christian Whitehead is behind this. He did a phenomenal job with the Sonic CD ports. I have absolute confidence that this game will be even better. Hoping for a physical copy.

Looks pretty cool! I`m getting a Sonic CD vibe from some of those levels. I also got a sonic 3D blast feeling from some of that music. Was it a remix?

I hope the physics and control are faithful to the original games. I really didn't like how sonic 4 controlled. Seeing Christian Whitehead's name on it made me feel more confident in the game.

Also, serious balls to release an actual 2D game, instead of 2.5D, if we're actually looking at a physical release here. Nintendo wouldn't have the stones to do that with Mario, unless it was another re-release of All-Stars.

You might be able to run the PC version, if you have a PC. I can't imagine you would need too powerful of a system to run a simple 2D game, but who knows.

I wouldn't think so. Physical PC release are getting rare these days. Even then, they're usually tied to an online service like steam, origin, or uplay.
You're probably better of with the console version if physical media is important.
