    Congrats on the successful kickstarter!

Its officially over now with 892 backers at just under 55k pounds.

At first I considered showing you some articles about things to be cautious about with kickstarters but when I saw the page
I knew you had it well in hand. I shared the link with my friends ,a lot of them are interested in the Mega Drive but I'm not sure
if they visit these forums. The funding stopped just short of the 55k ,does that mean you might consider a dreamcast port or
leave it be? I'm just curious ,I only have one friend I know of outside these forums who has a dreamcast and might be interested.

Your success will definitely be an inspiration for the other homebrewers and makers of new Mega Drive/Genesis games.
I look forward to seeing the final result ,its quite likely I'll buy one when the game is up for sale if and when I get the chance.

I still think it was an extremely difficult goal to achieve; but Matt's work was phenomenal. All signs point to a guy working his ass off every single day of the campaign for it to happen; to not talk about the previous years of Mega Drive programming studies and training.
And he was nice to people all the time; which just sets the bar even higher.

IMO no other Mega Drive-related campaign was nowhere near as successful as this one; even the Pier Solar HD's, 'cause for Tanglewood's campaign there was a LOT more drawbacks.
The amount of money invested is awesome, but what impresses me the most is the number of backers you managed to have; that was some job you did there.

It's awesome to no end to see it happening; the whole thing embodies everything that a true Mega Drive lover could ask for so it's like Christmas already.

Thank you very much, Matt, for all your hard work and even more for the way you conduct yourself in this forum. And thanks for everyone else who helped spreading the word and for those who backed the campaign.
I pledged for the ROM version which only exists because, once again, Matt was kind enough to hear us and create this option.

I'm very, very happy about this project.
    Agreed.

A lot of developers could learn from Matt's approach. I'm sure he's dead tired right now and needs to catch a little R&R, but he has definitely been a class act all the way. Customer service should always be a #1 priority. Far too many folks treat is as an afterthought.

I'm happy to have backed this, and expect that the project will turn out to be a great experience. This is my 3rd KS backed project, and my first one (Haunted Halloween 86) was a tremendous success in the way that Retrotainment handled it all. Henshin Engine being the second, who have also been very fan friendly, and now Tanglewood.

It truly is a great time to be into old school & retrogaming, and I am honestly surprised that the "big" youtubers that are "retrogamers" haven't spent more time covering these types of developments.

Congratulations for getting the campaign funded! I'm looking forward to play this game at dark winter nights in a year. It looks very promising; it catches the atmosphere it tries to achieve, animates well and the (placeholder?) music fits well with the rest of the game. Hopefully you can get more detail to the background as the development kickstarts. The palettes can use some work too, weaker colours should fit better I think. A lot of folks on Sega-16 are experts at palette editing, maybe someone can help with that.

Best of luck with the development!

Congrats to you for making it to the finish line! I am so excited for this game to be produced, and I have the utmost faith in your development abilities.

    Thank you all so much!

At only 170 short, it would be very unfair if we didn't go ahead with the DC port. I know a lot of backers pledged specifically for that and don't care much for the Mega Drive version (the heathens!), plus my announcement about the stretch goal was late due to some problems.

Got a busy, busy year ahead!

Congratulations Matty! You cut it pretty close but you managed to secure funding! I was watching the Kickstarter off and on over the past couple of days as it gained momentum and was pleasantly surprised to see it supercede the goal. Was there anything that you did behind the scenes that drove more traffic to your campaign?

Also, it would be interesting to know the name(s) of the troll account(s) which sought to sabotage your efforts. That would dampen anyone's efforts. but in the face of adversity, I am glad you persevered. Congratulations!

The videos I did for Computerphile brought in a lot of last minute traffic. They have over 180,000 combined views and the conversion to clicks was considerably high.

Nah I'll leave it, we made it and I don't really want a witch hunt. If anyone else runs a similar Kickstarter I might pass on the name just so they can keep an eye out for it happening to them.

Most likely true but I am pretty sure that everyone posting, blogging, tweeting and retweeting helped a little bit. There was a noticeable shift in momentum during the last few days even before the Computerphile video.

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Ahah they're a bit big, can't resize images with bbcode on here, but they'll do.
