Default Did you know gaming - Dreamcast

There are some interesting facts in this video. The motion control part, along with how MS got involved with the console.

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

It's like having your favorite book read by your 5-year-old son who guesses its content mostly by the pretty pictures and makes up most stuff on the fly.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I tried watching one of these once and had a similar reaction. Unfortunately, a new generation of "retro" fans are learning everything this way.

Indeed there are a lot of interesting facts in that.

Technology-wise, the best partner for Sega would have been:

    (screen cap from the video)

But using a much newer, more powerful custom GPU, not R3D/100 or R3D Pro-1000. A hypothetical "R3D/500".

So if Dreamcast had been a second, next generation console partnership between SEGA and Lockheed Martin for consumer systems, launching not too early, i.e. 2000 instead of '98/'99,
then the first one would've been along these lines, launching in late 1996:
