Default The 'I can't believe I bought that!' thread

I thought this could be like the haul thread, only you tell people about stuff you bought that turned out to suck, or break, or was generally disappointing.

So I'll start with two CDs I got a few months ago.

    Jerry Cantrell - Degradation Trip
I bought this because I love Alice In Chains, and I thought it might be like the songs on their last album where he was singing instead of Layne - which were good - but this was really quite boring after the first few listens (and it cost me 10! )

Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
This would have cost me 11 from the shop, but luckily I found it in a deal on Amazon with the excellent Beside You In Time live DVD (for the same price the DVD would have cost me - so like a free Year Zero ). I loved it to death for about 2 weeks then just...stopped listening to it.

It's a good album, it's just... I don't know, I guess it could have been better if so much work hadn't gone into the concept, it would be nice to be able to listen to an album without having to read a bunch of crap to understand it all.

    Does food count?

Well, I bought this new sub from Quiznos called the "Chicken Carbonara" for dinner a couple of nights ago. It has Chicken, bacon, mozzarella, mushrooms, Creamy Bacon Alfredo Sauce. Now I love all of those things, but it tasted like crap, and when I woke up the next morning I really had to take a dump.

I think the mushrooms did my stomach in.

I can't believe I buy various snacks at work when I go to supermarkets and see I can get the same thing for a quarter of the price.

Can't believe I've bought various Genesis games I KNOW suck, just because I saw them.

Just stop at the supermarket before you go to work?

Panasonic 3DO (model FZ1) - $700 - Launch unit. The thing always sucked ass. Maybe only 3 good games for the thing, all of which came out for the superior Saturn and Playstation.

How long before someone says "I can't believe it's not butter"?

Because everyone knows it will happen.

I bought Fantastic 4 and the Silver Surfer (aka Fantastic Fart and the Silver Turd - saw this somewhere, I don't remember exactly now) for the PS3, and it sucks to play it with a buddy....
Maybe I'll play it alone when I have the patience.

I could go on with games... but it would take years to list some of the shit games I bought. And later discarded for a huge loss.

Same here. Some of the ones I remember regretting the purchase of and ended up selling are:

    Super Mario Sunshine
    Final Fantasy 7
    Vectorman
    Saturn Netlink

I know it may sound criminal but for me it was the Game Gear. It sucked down batteries faster then I could afford to buy them at the time (11 years old). I had the car and ac adpators but it did little good at school. The worst one I fell victim to was that horrible virtual "reality hemet" that was out for Genesis and Snes at that time. It was like a huge low res lcd screen shoved up in front my eyes. It was really hard to play on that thing.

a 68 volkswagen beetle, a poncho, and a ticket for that Robin Williams movie "Bicentennial Man" are the only things I really truly deeply regret ever buying. Especially Bicentennial Man holy shit was that bad.

Some of the worse offenders for games:

Timesplitters 2 (the fucking aiming killed it for me)
Dead or Alive 3 (not AWFUL, but just so boring)
    Vanising Point
    Jeremy Mcgrath Motocross 2000
    Armoraries
    Turok Evolution
    Project Gotham Racing
    Ford Racing
    Jet Moto 2

That's all that comes to mind.
