Did all Sega CD Games come with a foam brick?

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if all brand new Sega CD games came with a foam brick?

I recently opened a sealed Ecco the Dolphin and it did not have a foam brick. I'm thinking it was re-sealed and not factory.

But seeing this got me curious.

I also opened a sealed BC Racers and it did have a foam brick. Again, I can't be certain it was factory sealed.

Did they? That's interesting. Most PAL Mega CD cases were square double CD cases, and didn't contain a little foam brick, with the exception of the Sony Imagesoft games, which for some reason came in long cases, just like US Sega CD games.

I can't be exactly sure, because my memory is foggy on it, but it would make perfect sense for the foam brick to have always been there with new copies. I mean, any rocky distribution (or handling) of those games would have resulted in a disc being tossed around in a larger-than-necessary case; potentially ruining the disc.

Although I enjoyed the SCD, I've always hated those cases.

Yes, they did Have to say Pal Mega CD cases were the best (like Pal 3DO cases) I loved the double jewel cases myself

I'd like to think that the foam bricks were added later on. Did any PS1 jewel case long box games have them? What about the cardboard versions? Or the cardboard versions of Sega CD games such as Corpse Killer or the CD32X releases?

I remember early plastic case Sega-CD games having the foam bitd.

I think they were supposed to, but I know that I bought games back in the day (when they were new) that didn't have the foam brick.

I was hoping to hear from someone with first hand experience opening Sega CD games when they were new.

It's still anyone's guess if the two in the video above were factory sealed but it sounds like it's possible.

I also noticed that both the games I opened didn't have anything else in them. No foldout posters or advertisements. Anyone remember Sega CD games coming with any extras?

Saturn games is also a no.

Forgot to mention double/multi cd games didn't as well.

I also recall opening some new back then that didn't have them.

Some multi-disc games did though. Fahrenheit had a really thin foam brick. I purchased it new and it still has it.
