Default Retro Fighters Kickstarter for a New Gen Controller

Retro Fighters launched a kickstarter for a new DC pad and it's already fully funded. Campaign looks alright to me.

I did a writeup titled Best New Sega Dreamcast Controller to Buy where I compare to other options.

The standard Dreamcast pad is one of my favorite of all time, but I know a lot of people can't comprehend it's glory, so it's good for those people to have a new, high quality option.

The d-pad is likely an improvement over the original pad, however I can't help but be a little disappointed that they didn't go with a classic sega d-pad like the ones on the MD or Saturn pads.

Eh, no thanks. I love the DC controller as is. One of my fave controllers ever. Unlike the N64 one. I don't feel there is any need to remake the DC controller.

Life!? ... What console is that on?

In build quality terms I agree with you. I find it comfortable and of high quality. It really is just shy of two buttons, so two extra programmables are reason enough to remake this for me. If the build quality is as good as Sega's I'm going to be chuffed.

Wake me up when someone figures out a way to run Saturn and PS1 games flawlessly.

I couldn't agree more that the OG Dreamcast controller is just awesome. Sure, I'll always welcome new innovations, but classic is best for me. Especially because the Dreamcast is probably the console that felt and still feels most special to me. Notice I didn't say it was/is the greatest, but it was and is the one that I felt was so special largely do to the experiences I had with unique games, online connectivity, and some of the best arcade to home conversions at the time. If only Sega could have hung in there, because while I did get a PS2 right away, that console just didn't have that spark, and never quite connected the same to me emotionally. I'll never forget 9/9/99.

This controller definitely looks like it will correct some of the beef I have with the original Dreamcast controller.

    Saturn

A wise man would have designed it to be more like a Saturn pad with an analog stick and triggers, and six face buttons (L & R digital duplicated) for fighting games.

Redacting what I said before. While I do love the DC controller. I'm also a sucker for controllers. I will get one of these. N64 one is pretty good. I only wish it felt a little heavier.
