This is the reason the Genesis/Megadrive mini is going to be worth every damn cent.

I'll be sure to check out both.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

A bit surprised to see Digital Eclipse being interviewed; those guys are the polar opposite of M2.

Just got around to watching this, was amazing. M2 are truly masters of their art. I guess Digital Eclipse was in there since they were one of the first outfits to handle commercial emulation.

Shoutouts to Arika for their stellar CAVE ports on PS2 (they allegedly had an almost finished port of Ketsui but chose not to release it on account of the PS2 lacking the necessary RAM to run part of the game seamlessly without loading), and Gulti for their handling of Raiden Fighter Aces on 360, whose wealth of display options even rival the best of M2's efforts.

But yeah, no one touches M2 in the end.

Oh, and pity Sega turned down their proposal of an R-Type Leo port for MD in favour of working on Game Gear Gunstar Heroes. Ah well, can't have it all.

Normally I'd agree with this statement but they've really come a long way. I've talked with a couple of the DE guys and I guess the company has swapped hands/employees a few times though I guess a few are still there. Don't quote me on that as the conversation is vague in my memory. But anyway they're better now. Not M2 level maybe, but definitely not the old horrid level they were at in the PS3/Xbox 360 days.

I didn't mind 'some' of Digital Eclipse emu games tbh. I agree with you on Akria they were good and so were the likes of Rutubo games and Xing Entertainment games were always spot on too.
But M2 are GOD's for emu

Great documentary, the M2 staff is quite talented, making things happen that shouldn't be possible, and preserving gaming history. Digital Eclipse was good in their earlier years, but their quality dropped off considerably, M2 is the opposite, started good, got better and better as time went along.
