Genesis Alice Sisters - New Puzzle Platformer game for the Sega Genesis / Megadrive

Alice Sisters, the next game from OrionSoft for the Sega Genesis / Megadrive (and maybe Dreamcast)
This is the sequel to my previous game "Alice's Mom's Rescue" released on Dreamcast / PC / Atari Falcon / Jaguar

It's a puzzle platformer, playable in cooperative mode with 2 players (or alone with a character switch)
I posted small previews on my twitter for several months https://twitter.com/onorisoft

Technically, it's very colorful game with multiple planes, differential scrolling, a lots of sprites on the screen with falling leaves of trees, shots, enemies, bricks, the classic lever / key / doors.
The particularity of this series of game "Alice" is that this character can shrink by jumping on a small mushroom, which opens the way to narrow places (to get a key, activate a lever, etc ... )
Her sister can shoot a ball to kill certain enemies or break some brick.
Each character having his own ability, you have to cooperate to progress in the levels.

Hopefully the game will have a physical release in the next year.

Here is a video of the game running on my Genesis/Megadrive 2, because of the CRT TV you can't see the game very well, but it was mostly to show that it actually runs on the real hardware and up to 60Hz without slowing down.

Cool! Reminds me of The Lost Vikings. Co-op homebrew games are always welcome!

I would have gladly paid $200 for Retro Game Designer, even if only Mega Drive was supported.

New video with a small in-depth tech of Alice Sisters running smoothly at 60 FPS on a real Sega Genesis / Megadrive
some technical stats: 4540 lines of C code, 1640 lines of optimized 68k assembler (and counting...)
214kb of graphics, 481kb of musics, 108kb of sfx, 826kb of map data
VRAM used at 94% at certain time
multidirectional foreground scrolling + multi-parallax background, 30 to 40 sprites and no less than 60 different colors simultaneously on the screen
in short, the next one who tells me that it looks like a master system game or that it does not exploit the MD hardware enough, I will kick his ass

Woaw, your new Game Gear game looks cool! (just kidding)

Joke aside, congrats on this new project. I've been following progress on your Twitter, it looks really beautiful and polished.
Thanks also for sharing the "technical side" of it. IIRC, you are not using SGDK, but your own custom framework? (and thus the mix of C and ASM, even more impressive!).

What are the next steps of the project? (i.e. do you have a release date / month in mind?)

Haha, that often happens when the graphics style is not to their liking. Colors and technical details be damned.
