Pc Nostalgia: Which game represent for you MS-DOS

Which game when you think about MS-DOS appear in your mind?

    My choice:

    Good times! Uncensored language.
"I wanted to create something that the Famicom wouldn’t have been able to do..." (Kotaro Hayashida)
Wii is dying. Last game Just Dance 2020. Thanks for all!

I've always been a huge Adventure games fan, so I'd say Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

I was gonna say Monkey Island, but to me that's more of an ST/Amiga thing,
Indy4 was for me THE selling point of having an MS-Dos machine. (Since I loved Indy3 on the ST back then)

Space Quest IV. My Mother's boyfriend got a new PC that could run 256 color games. He got a few Kings Quest style games, one of which had a circular cardboard wheel key that I made a bootleg of and still have somewhere.

It took a long time for me to finally figure out how to make it all the way through to the end, but was still fun to replay or load save points at places like the mini games.

The fan service and meta jokes were still funny even though I hadn't played the previous games. I loved how it was a celebration of computer gaming, with Wreck em Ralph style bits like the monochromatic alien biker gang at the saloon.

I remember wishing for console games to get fullscreen coliful paintings like that, even if only for glorified cinematic scenes. Within a year I got Ys III for Turbo-CD and it came true.

We had a 1985 Packard Bell until 2002 when it finally broke down. Only games we had on it wee Blockout and Jeopardy. Tho At other people's houses I got to play Wolfenstein 3D and loved it. Some Doom as well. Mainly Wolfen.

Life!? ... What console is that on?

MS-DOS is before my time, but I used to love playing old abandonware games as a kid. You could browse and download a few at a time to try out. They were generally more simple than the stuff on PC, Genesis, or Playstation 1&2 that I was used to, but I just loved trying out random games and finding some gems.

Some games that come to mind when I hear "DOS gaming":

Scorched Earth - Used to love to play this with friends.

Alter Ego - Mostly just text, but this game was always unique and fun for me.

Life and Death 2 - Good thing I'm not a brain surgeon in real life.
    Modded consoles:
Master System (v7040) with s-video & direct AV out
Model 1 with 10mhz overclock & halt switches
    Model 1 with 10mhz 68010
    Model 2 VA2.3 with unfiltered Mega Amp, & s-video
    Model 3 VA1 with compatibility fixes & s-video
    32X with s-video

Hard question for me to answer since the first game I witnessed, I didn't play. It's Wolfenstein 3D. Was an upstairs attic in wooden house on a big beige desktop with beige CRT display on top; must've been about 1992-1993 or so. There's more memorable games I didn't really play on DOS but they're available for DOS. Populous was a Super Nintendo catalog I rented and gave me a eerie vibe and music seemed scary.

Most computer games I played were "Oregon Trail" and a fish game I forgot (you escape fish and grow) on Macintosh Apple computers about 1992-1997.

    Likely Odell Lake.

While I played Wolfenstein first, I played DooM the most.

The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Star Wars: X-Wing
    Panzer Dragoon Zwei is

Everyone I knew back then (and I mean literally everyone) with a PC had the first Monkey Island. It was like a community effort to play through the game as we would all talk to each other about things we had found and solved to help each other out.

Another game that comes to mind is Wolf3D. It was another of those games which absolutely everyone I knew had, even if it was only the shareware version.

I also sunk an insane amount of hours into Eye of the Beholder, though having gone back to it years later I can't understand why I bothered with it so much at the time.

I seem to recall there being a comic released at the time that followed the same plot and you could almost play the game along with the comic. Good times.

Who needs Daytona or Ridge Racer when you have a DOS PC with Screamer.

For me it was Blood, by far the greatest of the Build engine games.

There was also some surprisingly decent Nesquik game I have fond memories of. And I had the DOS versions of Aladdin and the Lion King rather than the Mega Drive versions.
