Sonic Sonic 2 betas: New betas found in 2019?

Hey I heard someone mention that 2019, new betas of Sonic 2 were found? But I'm not having good luck, in trying to find out... what exactly they were talking about.

It's been a while since I was digging deep into the Sonic games lol, but IIRC there were only 2 betas that were really notable, the Nick Arcade beta, and the Simon Wai beta. (Also there were a few late-betas which are much less interesting, as they're very close to the final game.)

So if anyone knows about any "new" betas from 2019, please let us know?

    ...

Also, I just found this vid with a new find: A previously unknown screenshot / mock-up, of an early Sonic 1, printed onto a shoe from about 30 years ago:

My guess is that you're looking for the prototypes released during Sonic Month:
    https://hiddenpalace.org/Sonic_Month_2019

Because you can't make a big Sonic prototype release without Sonic 2 being involved somehow (lol). One of the prototypes has the glitched title card that says "NEO GREEN HILL ZONE" (likely the source of that magazine screenshot), which also has a title card for "DUST HILL ZONE" (in Mystic Cave zone).

EDIT: it's the September 14 one

Also that one has a prototype version of the special stage (unfinished and not much of note, but apparently it was gonna include a timer).

^Thanks for the link! However it only lists the prototypes without any description.

Has anyone posted online, about what the actual differences are, in all these protos?

Asking because I’m very interested in the topic, but I’m also not about to personally pour over all these protos.

    Any more info anywhere?

You haven't even checked those links then (the page for each hack has a summary of the differences compared to the final game as well as a video for each). (EDIT: the blue text below the screenshots are links :P)

Doesn't seem to be a lot to really see, in the new prototypes though. Unfortunately...

I think the Nick Arcade and Simon Wai prototypes will always be the ones that are really notable...

I mean, when there are so many prototypes available all changes start looking gradual and not big.

Anyway… So, the prototype name for Wing Fortress Zone was Sky Fortress Zone (which would make it fit better with Sky Chase Zone). That in itself is mildly interesting. What I just noticed though is that Sonic 4 episode 2 has a SCz/WFz wannabe zone and it's called… Sky Fortress Zone. Goddammit.

(also can we just pretend that episode 1 didn't exist? episode 2 is what Sonic 4 should have been in the first place)
