    Default Genesis FPS engine

Impressive. I believe he's working on a Doom port.

It may just happen to be doing the same thing, but it looks like a hack of the Mega Drive Duke Nukem 3D port.

Since when does that port support sectors with multiple heights?

Probably because it lacks of perspective correction, which is one of the bottlenecks in rendering.

Except it does have perspective correction, it's just being computed wrong (looks like not enough precision).

Looking the video I still think there is no perspective correction, I really think the developer is using some sort of Affine, like you can see in this example: https://youtu.be/RyYEGdGwnFs

And like I said previously, correcting the texture through distance was very heavy for many computers back in the day, because dividing by z.

Why I think it's just Affine without perspective correction is because in the video when clipping Near-Z you can see (Around 10s to 11s) this:

Yeah I highly doubt it's doing any sort of texture mapping. So it's not an affine texture warping thing.

Oh wow! This is a great to see!

I was a big fan of the Wolfenstein Genesis/MD project and was wondering if it would lead to someone attempting to do Doom, as hard as that may be.

Now that people can easily play MegaCD/SegaCD games on their Megadrive's thanks to the MegaSD it's lead to some interesting fan projects (eg all the MD+ stuff) and I find myself wondering how it would go if some supremely talented individual attempted a Doom project utilizing the MegaCD's extra CPU and it's sprite rotation & scaling abilities. When most people think of the MegaCD they think of bad FMV games but it had some real 3D gems like Thunderhawk, Soul Star, F1 Beyond the Limit, Adventures of Batman & Robin, and of course the well known Sonic CD special stages and Batman Returns driving sections. I think the only first person shooter game on Sega CD was the port of Bloodshot which I don't think they did much of anything (other than music & some bug fixes) to enhance it over the Genesis version sadly, missed opportunity!

You can play Doom and Doom II on the Genesis with a Mega Everdrive Pro.

which is like saying you are playing Doom on an add-on console/hardware, so not a Genesis game.

I'm just pretending its the 32x version we all deserved but didn't get in 94. Sounds like Duke Nukem is next. Can't wait. Crossing my fingers for Dark Forces.

Why pretend it's a 32x when it's actually just Arm code running at like 500mhz hahah. I have no idea why people get so excited about this.
