That's a very cool looking "boss" though, but yeah very much Rugal traced.
I guess when Fonzie said the game would be like a Neo Geo game on MD he meant it in more ways than one.

I'm not saying that there's any fraud or anything sinister going on, but the way Paprium backers have been kept waiting reminds me a lot of the 'Steorn Perpetual Motion Machine' debacle that happened about ten years ago. That also involved many excuses and a public 'demo' that failed to impress anyone.

From a design point of view, he looks more like Cable, indeed. But from a sprite point of view, he's more like Rugal. It may just be his stance, it's hard to say more without seeing him in action.
Anyway, yeah, any character design will always remind you of existing ones, but I'm not sure the same is true for the sprites themselves. Anyway, it's not a big deal, as it's not a direct rip.

Yeah they traced Rugal's stance, but unlike the blatantly copied Shiva kick this "boss" character has become its own entity, and was merely build upon the perfected KOF art style.
    So I'm okay with that.

here's a good read about that kinda stuff.

I remember that. The difference here is that a perpetual motion machine is obviously impossible to anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of physics. Making a video game should not be an impossible task -- unless of course, you spend all your time focusing on things like booklets, jackets, box art, netplay, DLC, a custom FPGA and a dozen other things. You would probably need a staff of about 100 people to include all that and still meet a deadline.

Don't forget the collaboration of Jredd. Do you know exactly what Jredd did about the soundtrack ?

16-bit games did this all the time. Sometimes it's an homage, sometimes it's someone is copying someone else's homework.

i look at manual video.. ( i didn't watch it before for spoilers)

And now i agree with you guys, is a rugal copy.. jsut look at kof 98 rugal sprite
even the location itself reminds at rugal original stage in kof 94

This inspiration i think is not fonzie fault, its more connected by the pixel artist itself

The first sprite is definitely KOF 98 Rugal inspired. The second sprite shown looks like it's Yamazaki inspired.

Right. On a side note, Murdock's watch is missing from his dragon punch frame.

Fonzie, stop the cart factories, this needs to be fixed urgently!
And reprint all the manuals to fix this, of course... Expect another 6-month delay.

By the way, I find it surprising Fonzie didn't decide to waste his time making sure Murdock's robotic arm is always his right arm regardless of the direction he's facing. That said, that'd have been a better use of his time than adding DLC support.
