    Saturn Parodius

Konami's unique blend of shooter action and cutesy humor was a big hit in Japan and Europe and was collected into a great two-game set. Sadly, U.S. gamers never got a release. They missed a solid collection that looked as good as it played. But, that's what importing is for! Read our full review for more details.

I've got the entire series for my Saturn (including the MSX original on MSX Antiques), I've always loved this wacky series. I remember EGM magazine back in the day featuring the games, whenever they had arcade, or home releases in their Import games section of the magazine. I swore back then one day I'd find a way to play the series, and years after, through emulation, I did. That would turn into a one day I'd own the series, and eventually, that too came to fruition. I have all the SFC ones, the only Game Boy game, and all but the MSX and Sexy Parodius for PS1, as well as the entire series on PSP via Parodius Portable (which changed songs across every game, except the MSX one, I disliked this and became more thankful to have them on Saturn). Konami back then had quite the sense of humor parodying Gradius, with elements of Twinbee (which has a nice Deluxe Pack also on the Saturn), and parodied other games from other developers, even more so with Jikkyou Oshaberi, and Sexy Parodius (the Twinbee elements had been there since the start of the series). Sadly, the series ended on a strategy game on the PS1, Paro Wars.

Did not care for the PAL releases, so Parodius Da SFC, and both PS1 and Saturn versions of Parodius Deluxe Pack, I went with the Japanese versions, no censorship for me thank you.

There were also PAL releases of the NES and Game Boy versions of Parodius Da, which was pretty well covered in Europe back in the day, but if you are from abroad then I suppose I get your point sticking with the Japanese versions. It seems the Parodius Deluxe Pack for Sega Saturn and PlayStation was at some point actually targeted for a North American release too. Does anyone has a full version of this Konami brochure from CES 1995 apparently hinting it?
