Default Mega Man: Wily Wars - Retro-Bit Collector's Editon

    PRE-ORDERS OPEN FROM MAY 21 - JUNE 21, 2021
    $69.99 / 69,99 (kinda strange with the EUR/USD at 1,22 today!!!)

Very glad they re-reprint this! After the original announcement this was delayed for so long that I feared the re-release was canceled.
And the game hasn't gotten cheaper on Ebay in the meantime

    Genesis

I REALLY don't need all those extras. I'm hoping there is a regular complete release.

Update: The FAQ states that there's only a collectors edition.

Same for me, I was looking for a cheaper standard edition, no need for the extras.

As for quality, anyone knows if retrobit releases are reliable regard carts (correct pcb thickness etc.)?

No idea about their PCB's. It says beveled edges so maybe they are a bit fat.

I wish instead of all the shelf candy and certificates etc they would give some more info about the improvements to the game. The video said they ironed out the slowdown? That would be nice for those of us without overclocked systems. Couldn't find any more info about it though..

Hopefully they upped the amount of bullets you can fire on screen at once as well. Like that one rom hack.

I have the Zero Wing they recently released and I don't have any issues with the board being too thick. It fits just fine in my Model 1.

Yeah, there's a lot of extra stuff. I'm wondering if all this fits into the box? I'm on the fence about getting this. I already have a nice complete repro of this game I'm happy with. The blue cart looks cool but I'm not really too fond of the label. Also would like to know more about what they did to improve the game itself.

They say in their press release that they made "improvements to some gameplay performance issues." They say they've addressed "some" of the slowdown, but don't specifically address the slippery controls, occasional button dropouts, or weird music glitches, and anything else I'm forgetting from back when I owned this disappointing game. But perhaps "some" of these issues have been fixed as they say. Personally, if I was in the market for the first 3 Mega Man games, I'd put that 70 dollars toward the original NES carts. Wily Wars is just not very good, and nowadays, even beyond the original carts, there are several ways to get these games via compilations for all the major modern consoles.

In my opinion, this release is only for collectors or flippers. Because anyone who has genuine interest in playing the first three Mega Man games would be significantly better off doing so in one of the other ways which are available.

I grabbed a copy for myself, as I don't have a repro and would like to add it to my collection. I have the original Nintendo carts, but I'd like to have this on the Genesis.

Was a bit on the expensive side. I was hoping these releases would be a bit more affordable.

I just wondered if the repro you got was capable of saving. Bought a repro myself unfortunately mine didn't have that capability.

I seem to remember hearing M2 fixed the weird delayed start up time for walking on the MD Mini, that's certainly the first thing I'd look at fixing on this game.

Yeah it can save. Is the board on yours not compatible with a save battery?

Ill buy a repro, before Id pay $70 for what some consider a weak game in the franchise.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

I own a high quality repro of Wily Wars myself, that has the save files fixed so as to not just up and disappear as the ROM has happen to it. It's pretty much good enough for me, even though I also own the NES carts, and MMAC on the PS2.

Not huge on the Mega Man franchise and haven't even played the OG trilogy on NES, and so can't speak to the differences/downgrades on Mega World, but I did think the graphics were nicely done - despite being rendered in lo-res mode.

I have nice, complete Repro of this as well. While this is tempting, I'm most likely gonna pass. I have no need for all the extras.

I pre-ordered a copy. At least some of the money goes to Capcom and not a pirate.
