    SNES Darker on SNES

The Sega Genesis has a reputation for having darker games (I'm talking about the colours) than the SNES games. However, there are a number of counter examples.

    Here is a sample:

    Super Smash TV

    Prince of Persia

    Samurai Shodown

    Universal Soldier

    Phantom 2040

The Adventures of Batman & Robin

    The Beauty and the Beast

    Separation Anxiety

    Daze Before Christmas

    Jungle Book

    Robocop 3

    Steel Talons

    T2: The Arcade Game

    Virtual Bart

    Other examples?
My Top20 Sega Genesis Soundtrack (It is no longer updated, but it is the only video I made! And it's game by game, not track by track. You can play blindtest.)

This is quite natural since there are so few dark colours in the Mega Drive master palette.

It's not just the lower bit-depth of the master palette. The Mega Drive RGB values are closer towards the middle and there is a large jump between the lowest or highest value to the next.
