The Sega Dreamcast is twenty-two years old today and I'm still playing mine.

To this day I have never owned or really played any modern home console released after it.

That said, the only game I still wish I could have for it would be Final Fantasy X.

I love the Final Fantasy series. I actually have a PS2 copy of FFX which I have never played. And own a sealed copy of the EGM issue with the exclusive Yoshitaka Amano art for the release...

Thinking about it, it's incredible how many great titles were released in the small window of time that the Dreamcast was supported.

And it's astonishing to also consider the number of quality Japanese titles that you can easily import.

But now it's unbelievable to think that thanks to the efforts of Dreamcast tech-savants that Atomiswave games are now fully playable.

I feel more now than ever that the Dreamcast has the best library of its generation. The system that never dies.

    Happy 22nd anniversary, Dreamcast!
Got one back in 2001 soon after Sega announced its homeconsole hardware business exit; the DC was my main console for several years until my itch for new Sega games made me buy a PS2 to play OutRun2.

Regarding the topic, I agree with most of Team Andromeda's and Cafeman's list of Model 3 games. Other than that:

    - Shenmue 3: not the one we got a couple of years ago, but a proper conclusion to the trilogy on the Sega console;

    - Garou MOTW 2: had SNK not gone bankrupt (the NeoGeo version was reportedly 50% complete at the time), it would be a great final addition to an already stellar fighting game library;

    - Soul Calibur 2: it would be interesting to see how the DC compared to the other 6th generation consoles and which Sega character Namco would include... Golden Axe's Gilius Thunderhead or Phantasy Star's Alis anyone?

    - OutRun 2: if only we had got this one, I wouldn't have bought a PS2 to begin with...

I agree with everything on your list. It would've been cool to see Soul Caliber 2 on the Dreamcast.

~~I'd also add my games: Star Wars Trilogy and Monkeyball.
Toys: PS5, PS3,PSVita, Xbox, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Saturn, JVC X'Eye, Game Gear, NES, SNES, Neo Geo, Neo Geo CD, Turbo Duo R, PS1, PS2

Movie Setup: Vizio M65, Fluance ES 5.1, Definitive Technology SC 4000, Sony STR-DN840, Apple TV 4k, Synology DS413j with 12TB of media.

An arcade perfect version of G Darius and maybe they should've released a budget priced arcade port of the original The House of the Dead.

Tekken Tag Tournament would've been great on DC if they would've released it back in the day, or even a few of the Metal Slug or Samurai Shodown games.

Bloody Roar 3 would've been cool too.

    Probably shouldn't say but:

    "Vigilante 8"
    "Resident Evil"
    "Destruction Derby 1+2"
"Grand Theft Auto + London Expansion"
    "House of the Dead"
    "Rally Cross"
    "Sega Rally"
    "Tekken 1+2"
    "8 + 16 bit Phantasy Star games"
    "Carnevil"
    "Die Hard Trilogy"
"Lost World Arcade (both 16bit and 3D)"
    "Crypt Killer"
    "Clock Tower"
    "Dead or Alive"
    "Radiant Silvergun"
    "Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012"
    "Twisted Metal 1+2+3"

Probably many more but for those I mentioned I would've enjoyed with high fidelity content, expansions, unlockables, behind-the-scenes making of, and sometimes higher difficulty.

    Maybe I shouldn't say but:
I agree. I think after y2k bug fix when the Xbox marketed, games slowly started regressing. After AMD mantle technology on Windows 7, I don't think there's been much games worth getting besides a few odd conversions of Shin Megami Tensei catalogs and other similar games. Some of the very low price Steam games are so called "RPG Maker" types (and similar) and are surprisingly high quality and better than well known titles. "Resident Evil 4" proves gaming can evolve the wrong way. I think Dreamcast was the only marketed high capacity machine with high quality catalogs; it was great having many playstation conversions available even if the fidelity of the content wasn't much improved.

    edit:
    Probably shouldn't say but:
"Final Fantasy VIII" surprisingly hasn't been converted with high fidelity content without fmvs. The ball room scene was demoed for the PlayStation2 market with hardware drawing the polygons, and yet most games still used fmvs or were tainted with ideas from the movie industry and still are. I probably would've enjoyed "Final Fantasy VIII" on Dreamcast. https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki...technical_demo.

Why shouldn't you say all those things? I don't get it.

EX Zeus. It did get a Wii port and a Switch port eventually.
I may be wrong but I think it was planned for Dreamcast.

ESP Ra.De. from Cave. It did get ported to Switch/PS4 but in 1999/2000 be a great addition to the DC library.

Crossniq+ is an indie puzzle game for modern systems but everything about it screams Dreamcast/PS2 around 2000-2001. Even the menu's feel straight from that era.

I'm surprised that nobody bought up Propeller Arena and Half-Life, that got cancelled for various reasons.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Well, technically they are on Dreamcast. Most of the games mentioned had no planned release or never made it far in development for DC.

Anyşing Panzer Dragoon related. I almoſt wiſh şey had ſhifted Panzer Dragoon Saga's development to şe Dreamcaſt, but şey ſunk ſo much money into şe project şat I'm ſure şey had no choice but to put it out on Saturn. Still, a criminally underexpoſed game. I would love to ſee a remake. Really unfortunate şat şe ſource code was loſt, ſo I gueſs şe only option would be to remake it from ſcratch, or build an emulator şat can run PDS's retail ROM & ſell it as a PC game.

Alſo Burning Rangers would've been a lot better on Dreamcaſt. How about Burning Rangers 2?

No doubt remaking the likes of Burning Rangers and PDS for the DC would have been a ton of work, since they looked to use almost every Saturn trick in the book and it would have taken so much time . I felt Deep Fear was more a Saturn game that should have been moved up to the DC. I'm guessing it would have been an easier port and the fantastic enemy's designs suffered a little on the Saturn and we could have had much better renditions on the DC and it would have been a nice early title for the DC.

I sometimes can't help but feel it may have been better for Shenmue if it was brought to the Saturn in 1997 as the Shenmue/Shenmue 2 package, given that almost all the game was already developed and done on Saturn
and then looked to have built on them for a Shenmue 3 of the DC It's such a shame Shenmue never sold in large numbers so each new Shenmue game would be granted a big budget and support from SEGA.

I would have loved a BR 2 for the XBox , where over LIVE you could have co op and teams of players looking to rescue people and put on the fires.
    Panzer Dragoon Zwei is
one of the best 3D shooting games available
    Presented for your pleasure

I don't disagree with you on Deep Fear, especially since it never received an official US release. It would be interesting to see how much different it could've been if Sega put some time/money into getting it on the Dreamcast. Wasn't Blue Stinger considered a spiritual sequel to it?

Star Wars Trilogy is really the only game I wish had made it to the Dreamcast, as it never got a home port despite being one of the all time greatest rail shooters.
