-1 for the clickbait instead of explaining what you are posting on the thread name

It's nice and all, but a single level demo that isn't being released or completed, is just an annoyance.
Clickbait... wut? Did you not watch the video or something haha
Someone made something pretty damn impressive for the SMS and all you can do bitch about that you don't get to play it? Selfish much? No wonder why the SMS section on this site is dead.
I clicked on the thread thinking maybe some drama happened between users of the forum and I got a better thing instead (that video), but still, this is plain clickbait (the thread name does not give any info about the thread content)

It's impressive when the programmer can complete a full game as that's were the programming work is the most difficult.

Regardless of the bad thread title, I think it's worth mentioning that that Youtuber (ふあう・らぼ) regularly creates very impressive ports (Gradius, Xevious, Musha Aleste, a more arcade-accurate Fantasy Zone) to the SMS/Mark III, as well as a few other classic systems. They usually just do the first level of the game, and they don't publicly release their work. I can understand being disappointed at not being able to play it, but obviously there are copyright issues preventing release; and 'leaking' their own work would be pointless because there are so few people capable of this that it would be no problem to figure out who had done it. As for why they only do the first level and not the whole game? I would say from personal experience that you can learn more from several small projects than you can by getting bogged down in one huge project, possibly getting burnt out and never finishing it. (...Speaking from having had both experiences!) Also there might be memory limitations that prevent doing the entire game at this level of fidelity. But regardless of speculation, obviously they prefer to just do the first level and then move on to other challenges. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend checking out the work they've done. It's impressive and enjoyable just to observe the passion and technical chops on display!
It's called demos, or proof of concept, etc. Doing a whole game takes a lot of investment. This takes less investment, but shows off what's possible. It's about as simple as that. We see a lot of this on other systems, including the MD (recently too). But yeah, just because someone can't play it - doesn't mean it doesn't inspire other devs in the SMS scene (stuff like this does!). What the author did isn't some trade secret or whatever, but do prove that it's viable, so hopefully it will inspire some similar challenges (we're already seeing lots of activity in the SMS scene). The transparency effect is actually quite nice. Since the SMS is planar tiles, this makes the effect doable (within limitations).
