Dreamcast Revision va0 and va1

Are there any major differences between the motherboards except for the va0 having heat pipes and a metal fan? Does one revision run hotter than the other? Would the va0 overheat if the heat pipes were removed? Any differences with the chips on the board? Very interested in this topic. Any information would be great. Thanks!

If i remember correctly, the ones with heat pipes use 5V logics, so they generate more heat.
The heat pipes was removed from later revisione that woks on 3.3v

My Launch Japanese model is still working, I've never had a issue with it (working wise) . I found the Pal models to be more unreliable myself, with the DC switching itself off and you need to clean the PSU.
I found the USA model to be the best of all of them myself and is the one I use the most.

The only issue I ever had with the Japanese launch model is the controller port is 2 pin, Way back in the day, when playing drunken Get Bass at a mates house, his bloody Cat bite the cord to Fishing Rod and it blew the controller port on my DC and it was hard to source the 2 pin controller port, when were moved to 3 pins. I went with out no DC for 2 weeks for that bloody cat

The DC don't have huge issues.

Just the lid switch and sometimes the psu contacts.

I've had to do it a lot with the Pal model, never had such issues with the US or JP ones.
