are you talking about the new Space Harrier II port? Does that mean the impovoments do not come either from the stock cpu grunt nor the SegaCD emulated cpu power?

Bummer, I thought it would work on real hardware. Then it's all the more disappointing that it flickers that much.

if you are right, the mini 2 is starting to look like those MDs from Brazil where some of the games are run by other hardware inside, not present on OG consoles.

Although in fairness Space Harrier should be the only case. All the other variations seem to be rom-hack level. How many of them are by the way? I've heard truxton has fixed music and Phantasy Star an Easy mode / fast walk button. What else?

    You guys enjoying yours?

I find it pretty decent, that Super Locomotive game or whatever is the weirdest inclusion i've ever found in one of these clone consoles, but there's plenty of decent games on here.

Love the fact that I can change it to Japanese language and play Bare Knuckle 3 as well.

Yeah mine just arrived this morning. Enjoying the new Space Harrier 2 and Fantasy Zone. Have yet to try everything out yet, but I'm pretty happy with what we got. Except I'm slightly bummed there is no power on light. Picked up another retro bit 6 button genesis pad to use for player 2 on this. Definitely interested in trying 2 player fantasy zone. And looking forward to trying that Cyber Stick out when it arrives hopefully pretty soon I think.

Mine was delivered this afternoon. Such a small console, basically the same size as the PC Engine mini. Enjoy the inclusion of CD games from both JPN and USA regions where available. Several games have been improved upon, such as Thunder Force IV and Viewpoint, so no more slowdown. Enjoy tinkering with the model 1 and model 2 sound drivers as well. And so many games to try out. Overall, very satisfied with it. Should be receiving my Mega Drive mini 2 next week.

But they cut the whole part of level 1 in which the famous homoerotic man appears in the original version.

How is the input lag on this?

first reports are saying it's the same as the Mini 1. It's the exact same CPU also (albeit with double the ram and 16x the storage of course). Nobody has actually measured it yet, though, I think.

I'd like to know which games benefit from using the cpu power instead of just emulating the OG hardware, apart from the obvious (Space Harrier I & II scaling). Does the "fast" mode of Thunder Force IV mean it won't slowdown thanks to being processed with something the OG hardware couldn't do?

EDIT: seems to be sold-out in Europe now. Still available in the UK

Interesting, does this additional CPU power help with Virtua Racing's framerate ?

doesn't seem, as it does only affect the roms that have been modified to benefit from it. Space Harrier being the only confirmed one, Thunder Force IV fast mode MAY be another one.

So Barone, why does the Mini 2 apparently has less lag than the 1 given the hardware is almost the same except for ram?

We know from the 32X that a sprite scaling program can be written in software, since the 32X supposedly doesn't have that capability built into the hardware (despite it saying so on the 32X system box). Therefore, I have no reason to think that the updated Space Harrier games couldn't run on original Genesis hardware with the help of a software scaling program. Space Harrier II was an early release, and I'm sure that the small ROM size of that era wouldn't permit such a program, but I think that a retail Genesis release of either Space Harrier could have been similar to the Mini 2's with the right programming.
