I got my copy and beat it in two sittings. It's pretty much like Super Metroid but in an Aliens/The Thing setting. As said above, it cannot possibly compete with Super Metroid, and while it doesn't reach the heights of that game in any area, it's still an enjoyable game and does what it sets out to do just right. The manual is quite immersive and the story-telling with cutscenes are welcome to break up the gameplay a bit. Overall, I'd give the game 6 or 7 out of 10. A longer game and more originality and it may have become a classic. Looking forward to the sequel.

I must say that the overall quality of the package ect. is very nice, and the first impressions of the game are good. But I have to play it longer to judge it better

I got my copy and played through it. Yeah, my thoughts mirror Zebbe's. No where near Super Metroid, but still a good time. Solid 7/10. I'd rather have it exist than not, and it's nice to have it on the Genny.

Is there a map for this yet? I forgot what I was doing the last time I saved and now I'm randomly wandering through each area.

I played it for an hour or so yesterday and I gotta say that I really like it. As others said it's not on the same level of Super Metroid is, but I doubt even a legit sequel to Super Metroid could pull that off. I had to pull up a walkthrough on youtube to figure out what direction I need to head and it appears that I'm pretty far into the game so it's a little sad to see that the game is pretty short. I'd like a sequel made with some more polish and content so hopefully the developers are listening and making plans for it.

I’ve watch videos of the game in action. It looked way too repetitive for my liking. It needed to mix up some of the enemy encounters a bit more, especially considering that it’s a 16-bit game with affordable storage.

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

So yeah received my copy and my big criticism would be JUMPING!!!!!!!!!!!!! no one's really mentioned it too much here ~Tho jumping in the early stage of the game works fine, but may God Have Mercy on the later levels, just try propelling yourself up The Laboratory zone! I mean come~on double jump is a skill. But between just locking up with an angled shot or just plain refusing to perform a double jump, I found myself looking for a replacement controller 3 or 6 Button or passing the Gamepad around to 3 friends to challenge them to make the jumps. 9 out of 10 times it's a fail. Going back to Metroid jumping just feels far more robust you don't find yourself shouting come on make the Damn jump for the love of Christ

Now completed the game i can say other than that I would definitely agree with the previous comments it's nice to play a Metroid Style game on the Megadrive, the graphics are not groundbreaking but they are perfectly suited to the style of game the weapon upgrading works well, having the map is very Reminiscent of Metroid but has a distinct absence that lacks marking out any featured parts such as save Panels or weapon upgrade Panels which I think should be included in the map Screen.
So should you buy this? well it's far from being a terrible game BUT I really wish they play tested the jump physics or lack of

One glitch I found 3 Times in the Purification Zone at the entrance in the ceiling to gain access to the above area normally you obviously use a grenade to open the panel and when you Exit the zone entirely the entrance once again is blocked by the same panel. But if you Run at speed and blastaway through the panel and keep the momentum of Speed continue into the above area kill enemies or not that spawn no matter how far you proceed the game Glitches~out as it's playing catch~up and spawns your ass right back underneath the entrance Panel

    ..

my thoughts after playing the demo a couple months ago.

How To Make This Game Make Sense

    ideas:

the base ship supplies Sam with a variety of tools in his ships cargo that he may need for the mission. but when he lands on the planet his ship is compromised and so Sam has to rely on upgrades the Mars base supplies to accomplish his mission.

    OR

something causes Sam to eject ship before it crashes losing his supply and so he has to wait for the base ship to resupply him. meanwhile he has to rely on what the Mars base supplies and wait for the base ship to send another ship to pick him up.

    OR

after he lands his ship is taken over by some creature/s outside the base loosing his supply and it would be pointless for the base ship to send more supply at that same point of entrance to the Mars base. but Sam could retrieve his ship to get back to base ship if only he could somehow by getting rid of the creatures/s holding his ship.

    OR

his ship sinks and it will take some time for the base ship to send down Sam necessary supplies he can pick up later at a randevu location and be picked up himself after mission is complete.

Why This Game Doesn't Make Sense

Sam: this wall is too high, instead of supplying me with a suit that can be upgraded with the capabilities i may need, why didn't you just supply me those capabilities before i left ship in case i need them?

Captain: because we don't make any sense.

Sam: sense my Plasma Rifle power can be over 100%, why didn't you just equip me with a rifle charged over 100 before i left ship?

    Captain: uhh, i don't know.

Sam: 🤨 i think the storyline needs adjusting.

Sam: why didn't you equip me with cells and a upgradable suit that doesn't need upgraded with common upgrades or supply the usual upgrades to me in my cargo before i landed on the planet?

    Captain: uhh, good question.

    MUSIC

Sam: are the music tracks going to be only short loops?

    Captain: im not sure.

Sam: well can i switch the music off so i don't have to listen to these short loops throughout my mission?

Captain: you don't have that option.

    Sam: 😐 shit

From my take the game looks a bit annoying shooting enemies and waiting for a cool down can be very annoying while enemies are coming at you really fast this is nothing like metriod or castlevania game feels like a quick buck to me

    I love Shadow Dancer!"
