Getting your ass kicked by the expert course really is a ton of fun. I've never been able to place anywhere close to first. I've seen some really interesting online videos of first place runs.



Automatic too. I like the shortcut at 2:08.

Kinda interesting they have the quick start feature like many racing games, yet they dont give any indication that its there in the manual. Maybe the devs thought of it more like an easter egg type thing? The hill trick also helps. Just trying these on a few runs and I can be as high as 7th place at certain parts of the race. I should now be able to get 7th place just but having a zero mistake run.

Got an 8th place finish! Ive been doing runs with automatic and it seems to help to be able to put 100% of your focus into nailing the turns. Whats kinda worrying though is that no matter how well Im ever doing Im never in 5th place or above at any point. For now Ill try to claw my way to 6th place.

The funny thing is even though Ive never placed higher than 8th I feel like I have all the tools to get 1st. When I get everything perfect I can be in 6th place halfway thru the 1st lap, and the few times I have done a full lap getting absolutely everything perfect I briefly got in the top 5. At one point I was still perfect like a fourth into the 2nd lap and I was in 3rd place with the 1st and 2nd guys right in front of me. The biggest problem will be nailing the crazy turn by the boat on both laps. Also because the turns demand so much focus mental fatigue sets in quickly and makes it a lot harder to do even the easy turns. Oh well, the end is in sight, I just need the miracle run now and I will finally beat this game 25 years later.
